We use tools (SDKs) within the Airbnb Android application to help personalize content, tailor and measure ads, and provide a better experience.

Tools are categorized based on their functionality and purpose. Here are the categories of tools Airbnb that uses to help provide, protect, and improve the Airbnb platform.

Strictly necessary

Strictly necessary tools are essential for the app to function and to provide our services. It cannot be switched off in our systems. Strictly necessary tools enable functions like authenticating users, preventing fraud, and enabling access to secure areas of the app.

Functional

These tools allow us to provide enhanced functionality and personalization to our app, such as live chat or videos. Functional tools may be set by Airbnb or an approved third-party provider whose services we have added to our pages.

Performance

These tools allow us to measure and improve the performance of our app, including by counting visits and identifying and measuring traffic sources. It helps us know which app interfaces are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the app.

Targeting

These tools are set through our app by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads elsewhere. They work by uniquely identifying your device. If you don’t allow these files, you will not experience our targeted advertising.
