Tips from locals
Avoca shop which sells famous Irish throws with amazing colors , clothes and gifts. Lovely cafe upstairs with the amazing view. I recommend everyone to stop by on a day trip to Kerry from our cottage. It's less than 1 hour away from the cottage by car.
Irish made goods and cafe with stunning views over Molls Gap and the Reeks District
the best cakes and delicious salads. Avoca is a traditional company of weavers - so sells exclusive lines of their products in the shop. Lovely staff and good chef with spectacular panoramic views.

It's possible to get a boat from nearby Lord Brandon's Cottage to Ross Castle in Killarney town. This is called " The Gap Boat Trip" and is a beautiful day trip.”

- Restaurant“pancake cottage is over 200 years old and has been run by Peter & Margaret Kerssens since 1997. The old dormer cottage was originally a family farmhouse, located on a sidetrack on the famous Ring of Kerry overlooking Slievaduff Valley. The area is a favourite with tourists and locals alike. Peter & Margaret turned the cottage into a little café/restaurant creating the space themselves as they have a great love for cooking and creating things. Keeping the traditional Irish cottage-style which makes it a cosy and homely restaurant, with a welcoming wood burning stove but with modern facilities. The cottage has its own well, so there is no chloride in the water system, just pure natural filtered spring water. The little art & craft shop is another aspect of “The Strawberry Field”. The crafts are all by local artists, including items created by Peter and Margaret’s paintings and crafts.”
