The church was founded by Charles IV. for the Slavonic Benedictines in the 14th century. From 1880 to 1887, the church was regrouped from the outside and modified inside. After the air raid in 1945, the tower of the church had to be removed. Between 1965 and 1967, a reconstruction of the building was completed and two asymmetrical towers were completed. In 1990, the building of the adjacent monastery was returned to the Emmaus Benedictines who returned from exile from the Norse. The church was gradually repaired and re-opened at Easter Monday in 2003. So, after a sixty-year pause, the worship service is now regularly served.
