The Inés María Mendoza Nature Reserve (Punta Yeguas) is located in the extreme southeast of the coastal municipality of Yabucoa, where the Sierra Pandura gradually reduces its height until it meets the Caribbean Sea, projecting its limits on three capes or points of sedimentary rock that rise dramatically over pockets of sandy beaches. Several humid forests cover the cliffs between the capes, giving way to grasslands in the middle of meadows and hollows that complete the impressive topography of the place. From the highest point of the property you can see the island of Vieques, to the east, and the Sierra Pandura, rising to reach the other mountains to the west.
