Influenced by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Czech architect Antonin Nechodoma commissioned the two-story house for the sugar plantation owner Antonio Roig. Built in 1919 in the shape of a T, it has strong horizontal features and wide, showy cornices. The stained glass windows that cover the doors and windows create plays of light that, in turn, protect the interior from the strong light that characterizes the tropics. It was built for Mr. Antonio Roig Torrellas and his wife, Eulogia Guzmán Toro. Casa Roig is considered an architectural jewel of Puerto Rico that has been used for cultural events and as a museum. In 1989, the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao restored Casa Roig, reopening its doors as a regional museum. Monday to Friday-9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m./ 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday- by appointment. Sunday-closed
