Voted the #1 BBQ in Texas (which is saying a lot). I haven't personally been here but everyone who's mentioned it has raved about it. There is always a long line and people usually start lining up around 7:30am for several hours just to order. I've been told to bring a lawn chair and a cooler and basically tailgate before you eat!

This is a popular local spot for most outdoor activities. There are wide open fields, sand volleyball courts, and hiking/biking trails that go around the lake. This is also where they hold the Austin City Limits music festival each October as well as "Blues on the Green" concerts throughout the summer.

Barton Springs pool is definitely recommended if you can make it out there. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming. The pool is closed to the public from 9a-7p every Thursday though. Fun fact: Robert Redford learned to swim at the pool when he was five years old while visiting family in Austin.

This is one of my favorite Austin spots! This street is lined with houses that were converted into bars - each with their own unique feel. An Austin staple and a must-see if you've got the time! 'Bangers' has got a German style outdoor area, 'Half Step Bar' has amazing craft cocktails, but 'Lustre Pearl' is my favorite all-around bar in Austin.

You really need to catch a show at The Continental Club. The granddaddy of all local music venues, Rockin South Austin Since 1955, the legendary Continental Club celebrates over 60 years as one the oldest continuously running clubs in all of Austin. It started out as a swanky supper club, then became Austin's first burlesque club and later became a working man's blue collar bar on South Congress that opened every morning at 7am and eventually grew into one of the premier live music venues.
