They have extensive breakfast and lunch menus, the espresso is excellent, the staff is SUPER friendly. They only serve breakfast until 11 am on weekdays, but all day on weekends. We like to sit at the counter and speak to the staff. They get busy on the weekends, but the service is still fast.

It's a gorgeous restaurant with exceptional food. A clever take on mediterranean dishes with exquisite cocktails. It's great for dinner or even brunch on the weekends. Excellent for us vegetarians but there is lots to choose from for all.

Excellent for dinner- New American cuisine. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is super friendly. We love to sit way in the back or have a cocktail at the bar. It gets busy on the weekends so make a reservation, or maybe just eat at the bar or have a drink while you wait and enjoy the atmosphere.

An Iconic pizza joint that's beautiful and busy. They have a whole vegan menu for the vegans among us. They don't take reservations so go early. They stop taking names around 9pm on the weekends. It's worth the wait or the wander around the neighborhood.

My favorite Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. They deep fry their pizza dough and it's incredible. They have cask wine on tap at the bar. It's small and gets crowded on the weekends but the wait isn't that bad.

Amazing Thai food to stay or take out. You can call and order delivery, but they're not on seamless and are cash only. Worth finding the cash, the curry soup is incredible. Lots of veggie options as well as meat.

Oh my their baked goods are delicious. They have a stunning space with a large communal table and a bar where you can watch the bakers bake. Their breakfast and lunch menus aren't as extensive as Eagle Street Cafe, but they're tasty. It's a good spot for a pastry and an excellent espresso. The staff is pleasant.

Essentials

We love this place for local cheese and beer. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you can get growlers of beer, 6 packs of local and rare ciders along with strong cheeses, baguettes, and chocolates. They close somewhat early for the neighborhood but we love them.

This grocery store while a bit further away has a very extensive availability of quality items. Excellent organic produce, baked goods, as well as meat and cheeses, coffee and other items. It closes earlier than other groceries so check the closing times. It's a small locally owned business and we like to support them.

A great little market for healthy options. Not a massive selection, but they have a solid selection of most things. Check upstairs for personal essentials and snacking items. They will make you breakfast sandwiches on the go or delicious smoothies as well. Super friendly staff. Open later than most groceries in the neighborhood.

Beautifully designed, well-heeled crowd, excellent spirits, beer, and cocktails, a nice wine list as well. It will get crowded past 10 pm Thursday-Saturday. We like to go there in the early evening while we wait for a table at a nearby restaurant.

The 7 train is a 15 minute walk over the Pulaski Bridge into Queens but is entirely worth the trek because it makes it super easy to get to midtown Manhattan from here, it's literally 1 stop into the city. It's a safe walk and can be peaceful and serene at night. Walk all the way to the end of the bridge in LIC and on your way back take the stairs in Brooklyn to get a nice meander through some beautiful old warehouses.

Want to go to DUMBO or the Financial District? Take the East River Ferry. Schedules are strict but for the price of the ticket the views are worth every penny. You can buy tickets on the pier while you wait for the Ferry. Make sure you get on the right one going the right direction. It's a beautiful way to see the city and to get a nice watery breeze on a sunny day. http://www.eastriverferry.com/
