Arts & Culture

They hold Medieval Banquets in the Castle every night during the summer. It's quite expensive but a great fun experience. The waiters/waitresses also entertain you with their singing and music. The food is all eaten with your fingers and someone gets thrown in the dungeon. Two guests get to be King and Queen for the night. The Folk Park is a great day out too. Lots to see and do and very good for kids.

Killaloe/Ballina are two villages about 20 minutes outside Limerick on Lough Derg. Killaloe is in Co Clare on one side of the bridge and Ballina is in Co Tipperary on the other side of the bridge. You can take a boat trip around the lake or there is a lovely walk along the river, with an open air swimming pool in the summer months. There are some nice pubs and restaurants. In Killaloe there is a lovely cafe called The Wooden Spoon and also an Italian deli/restaurant/secondhand book store call Ponte Vechhio. On the other side of the bridge in Ballina is a nice pub/restaurant called Goosers as well as several other pubs and restaurants. Just outside Killaloe is the UL Activity Centre.
