It was once known as "St. Mary of the Fertile Rock", a reference to the Burren's fertile soil. it is still used by the local community so if you visit we ask you do so respectfully. One of the “green roads” abby hill walking track is located 4km from the house and has spectacular views of Galway bay, on a clear day you can see into conneamara. The walk is roughly 4km from the top of the corker hill to the church yard. Wear good shoes as it’s an uneven old path.

Monks is located in the town of Ballyvaughan, a 15 minute drive from the house. They have a wide array of seafood available and also do takeaway. I highly recommend the chowder. The home of seafood in Galway Bay for more than 40 years. Traditional, rustic and local. Fresh, flavourful and full of goodness. This is what Monks food is all about – because we bring you ‘local’ at its best."

L'arco is nestled away on Ballyvaughans main street, They make great pizza and pasta and also do takeaway. Great for large groups as the restaurant is spacious or order a couple of pizzas and starters to take home. My personal favourite is the bruschetta to start and the huntsman 's pizza. portions are large, so perfect for sharing.
