The fascinating Cliffs of Moher are by far one of the most famous tourist attractions of Ireland. It feels no less than a painting on a canvas. Stretching to as far as 14 kilometers, the Cliffs of Moher are high rising sea cliffs situated at the southwestern brink of the Burren region in County Clare, Ireland with over an hours drive from the house it is definitely worth the drive! Just do not look down! It goes downhill almost vertically. The cliffs are up to 214 meters or 702 feet high. Some visitors venture beyond the barrier of stone slabs directly to the edge of the cliff. But this is not really necessary to admire their beauty. The Cliffs of Moher are also famous for their flora and fauna and the impressive animal world. Bird lovers are often drawn to this impressive place to watch peregrine falcons or kittiwakes. The cliffs are not only popular with travellers, they also served as a backdrop for the filmmakers of the Harry Potter series. Furthermore, some scenes of the movie “The Princess Pride” and “Ryan’s Daughter” were shot here. Hikers have a nice alternative to the trip to the official viewpoint. From Doolin in the north to Liscannor in the south, there is a 20 kilometer or 12.5-mile hiking trail right along the cliffs. Well, what is called a hiking trail. It is more like a trail past sheep and cows. But always with the impressive view of the Atlantic Ocean. Impressive.

With just over an hour from the house The Rock of Cashel is set on a dramatic outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale, the Rock of Cashel, iconic in its historic significance, possesses the most impressive cluster of medieval buildings in Ireland. Among the monuments to be found there is a round tower, a high cross, a Romanesque chapel, a Gothic cathedral, an abbey, the Hall of the Vicars Choral and a fifteenth-century Tower House. Originally the seat of the kings of Munster, according to legend St. Patrick himself came here to convert King Aenghus to Christianity. Brian Boru was crowned High King at Cashel in 978 and made it his capital. In 1101 the site was granted to the church and Cashel swiftly rose to prominence as one of the most significant centres of ecclesiastical power in the country. The surviving buildings are remarkable. Cormac’s Chapel, for example, contains the only surviving Romanesque frescoes in Ireland. The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland’s most spectacular and – deservedly – the most visited tourist attractions.

My favourite! Kimono is aimed at the fashion conscious working woman looking for something classical but edgy and a little bit quirky. Since being established in 2003 by Ailish Mullane, Kimono has grown and matured into being one of the defining innovative and creative fashion destinations in the South West of Ireland. Finding and developing the latest trends, Ailish researches and attends fashion exhibitions in Europe looking for up-and-coming labels to compliment the existing and exciting labels. Kimono has become a shopping destination for women who want to look and feel fabulous in our hand-picked designer selections as well as trend setting casual wear from a wide range of collections. The one trend that is followed at Kimono is that of beautiful clothes. The boutique itself offers a very relaxed unhurried atmosphere in which to shop with French boudouir decor and imported French antiques. Our space is intimate and inspiring and a great place to enjoy the pursuit of fashion.
