Best beaches in NS

You'll find everything you need for a great day trip just outside your front door. On a Saturday morning, follow signs for the barn and head to The Hubbards Market (seasonal), where you'll experience live music, local produce and freshly baked goods from Julien's Bakery. Grab your morning beverage at Hubbards Cove Coffee, then pack up your beach umbrella and head to Queensland Beach, the perfect destination for a family beach day, only minutes from your stay. Great facilities and ample parking make your visit even more enjoyable. With warm, white sand & crystal clear blue waves, Queensland Beach offers some of the warmest waters on the South Shore. Tucked away in the Bay, Queensland is especially safe, lacking rips and currents. Feel extra secure with your kids in July & August when the waves are supervised by the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service. Looking for something a little more secluded? Just off of Highway 329, you'll find Fox Point Beach. Smaller and with no facilities, this spot is rarely overcrowded, but boasts crystal clear water even warmer than that of Queensland. Fill your tummies with Gallant's Fish and Chips; a well-kept secret around the corner of Hubbards Cove (connected to Hubbards campground). Finish your meal with deep fried iced cream and Black Harbour Creamery which serves its cones out of the Old Mill Cove Elementary School. Grab your fishing pole, bathing suit, or rent a kayak from Hubbards Cove rentals, and venture into Nova Scotia's smallest Provincial Park (9 Yacht Club Rd). In the summer, catch an outdoor movie in this park under the stars. Finish your evening with a Lobster Supper at the Shore Club, or experience foodie heaven at The Savary Plate.

Historic locale

Venture 60km along the shore (we recommend taking the scenic Lighthouse Route) and wander Old Town Lunenburg’s distinctive waterfront with its historic colourful buildings. Enjoy the colourful streetscapes by foot, or experience the view ocean-side with Lunenburg Heritage Fishing Tours. Sample small batch spirits at Ironworks Distillery, or learn about Nova Scotia's diverse fishing history at the Lunenburg Fisheries' Museum. When she is docked in Lunenburg, catch one of the Bluenose II's 2 hour sails, offered twice daily, or walk the deck and take in her history. Step aboard museum vessel, Teresa E. Connor, and later enjoy an exclusive seafood dinner aboard the historic schooner.
