DC has many Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurants. This is one where Ethiopians go - it's very basic but the food is delicious. Habesha also sells some Ethiopian groceries, like injera flat 'bread' and berbere, a legendary red chili powder.

Sightseeing

The best way to see the Lincoln, Jefferson, Vietnam, and MLK monuments and memorials is in the evening after dark. They are all illuminated, and there are far fewer people, so you will be able to absorb these beautiful places, and the inscriptions on the stone, in a serene and quiet environment. Also, if you drive, parking is very difficult during the day and much easier at night.

Parks & Nature

This is a large park with miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails, and it's only a 20 minute walk from the apartment. The (free) National Zoo is inside the park, also, so it's easy to go for a long walk that includes our famous pandas, the Amazon rainforest exhibit, the outdoor/overhead trails where (non-human) primates climb, and other highlights of the zoo.

Arts & Culture

The Renwick is an easily-overlooked, wonderful art museum only 20 minutes walk from the apartment. In 2015 the Renwick's fantastic exhibit "Wonder" made it much better known, including among people who don't usually go to art museums. Three of the works from that show are still there, and it's worth going just for one of them - the tsunami work. The Renwick is free, and is just two blocks from the White House.
