The Renwick is an easily-overlooked, wonderful art museum only 20 minutes walk from the apartment. In 2015 the Renwick's fantastic exhibit "Wonder" made it much better known, including among people who don't usually go to art museums. Three of the works from that show are still there, and it's worth going just for one of them - the tsunami work. The Renwick is free, and is just two blocks from the White House.

This is a large park with miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails, and it's only a 20 minute walk from the apartment. The (free) National Zoo is inside the park, also, so it's easy to go for a long walk that includes our famous pandas, the Amazon rainforest exhibit, the outdoor/overhead trails where (non-human) primates climb, and other highlights of the zoo.
