Sightseeing

Salthill Promenade – just in front of the apartment. This is a fabulous walk that (on your right) extends all the way up to Blackrock Diving Board and past it to Gentian Hill. It offers views of the nearby harbour city of Galway and the Aran Islands. If you prefer to take a left turn when you get on the promenade, it will take you through ‘The Claddagh’ to Galway City Centre. Alternatively, you can take that walk to City Centre but on your way, take a right and go out ‘The Mutton Island Causeway’ to the lighthouse which is also a wonderful walk. Canal Walk: For the more energetic, you can take the promenade walk to the city centre, cross over the bridge over the Corrib where you will see Jury’s Hotel on your left. Follow canal by the side of Jury’s hotel and you will reach Galway Cathedral – site of Galway City’s former gaol!

6. We cannot recommend a trip to The Aran Islands highly enough. Another world….. All three islands have an appeal of their own. Inis Mór would be the most popular but we would prefer the lesser spoilt Inis Oírr and Inis Meáin.
