Getting around

You need your own car or if you enjoy cycling it works

From our house it is 5 minutes drive to the nearest beach. public transport is not regular so getting around can be difficult.
Ways to save

There are many things to do that are free

Walks, swims, fairy trails. The Kerry Way is a famous walking route and there are many paths to follow in the area
What to pack

Rain gear, towels, togs

It often rains in this part of the world so be prepared. Walking boots are a must and good rain gear. A hot summer's day in Ireland is 22 degrees so bring your layers
Book before you go

The Skelligs

A must see but booked out months/years in advance. not suitable with small children
Useful phrases

In some places the toilets are named Fir and Mna, Fir is Men and Mna is Women ! Grand is another word you will hear a lot. If you want to learn an Irish word use Slawn (means goodbye)

Relaxed

Things are pretty relaxed in Ireland, always say hello and please and thank yous go down well. Using mobile phones in company can be frowned upon by some.
