Sightseeing
This is less than a ten min drive. Its a lovely place to spend a few hours, tour the house, walk the gardens, definately cycle if you can. there great tracks for the kids esp from here to torc waterfall or to muckross abbey or dinis cottage teahouse. the traditional farms are also here and well worth a visit.
there is a restaurant here. i dont recommend the hot food but the teas and buns are nice to have and you can eat out on the lawn if weather nice.

you can get here by walking from muckross house. circa 2km walk, very pretty walk. very flat so bicycle and buggy friendly. or otherwise there is a car park beside it. this is 10mins from house.

this is such a scenic trip. have lunch at kate kearneys and walk as far as black stream bridge and back or further if you feel up to it. alternatively there are jarvey trips here too. strikeen mountain also here on the left. low to moderate climb.

dingle town is a lovely day trip if you have time. circa 1hour 15mins from the cottage. even the drive there is scenic, ( go by inch beach). take the conor pass home if the weather is clear.

I have never used this company but what i do recommend is a kayak trip to inisfallen island which is a 5th century monestary in the lakes of killarney.

Torc mountain itself has a railway sleeper path up to top from back of mountain. take the road called old kenmare road and drive to car park and walk from there. the climb will take 3 to 4 hours up and down. the views at the top are worth it.

highest mountain in ireland at 1000m and will need to hire a tour guide. actually most people with a reasonable level of fitness can climb it. i did this a few years ago and found it mamageable.
