Sightseeing

Beautiful beach near Esperanza, you can drive along the beach and park your car alongside. Bring beach chairs and coolers since you won’t have to carry them very far. Most popular beach on Vieques, so on weekends they charge a small fee to access. Afterward go to Esperanza for dinner and drinks!

- Black sand beach is beautiful and is a nice flat 15 minute nature walk. Definitely worth a visit but you won't spend all day there. - Wildlife refuge beaches (Caracas/Red Beach and La Chiva/Blue beach) have cabanas for shade and are great for snorkeling, but you must leave the gated area by 6pm. - Bastimento beach is on the north shore and is very shallow and calm water with a natural breakwater. Great for little kids - Mosquito pier also has good snorkeling. Drive toward the end and park near the boulder stairs on the left.

Getting around

Getting to and from Vieques

You can get to the Island of Vieques by air from San Juan International Airport, San Juan Isla Grande Airport, Ceiba Airport or on a ferry from Ceiba. There are multiple flights and ferries every day, however on the weekends and high season, it’s a good idea to reserve ahead of time.

Biobay

Vieques is home to the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world at Mosquito Bay. At night, the bay comes alive with it’s magical glow. It’s a reason a lot of people come visit our beautiful island of Vieques. For the best visibility and brightness in the bay, you want the darkest night so when the moon is smallest, not risen or has set or it’s a cloudy night. There are no biobay tours within 3 days of the full moon. We definitely recommend an excursion to Mosquito Bay to experience this for yourself. We recommend Abe’s or Blackbeard sports for your tour
