Where you’ll be

San Juan, Puerto Rico

This is my neighborhood, where I was born and grew up. Ocean Park is a quiet residential area of Santurce, one of the large traditional borroughs of San Juan. Its a mix of local senior folks with younger beach loving type of person.
You take 25 steps from the Condo's gate to the northeast and you are in a very nice strip of beach. You walk two blocks to the west and you are in the broader area of Ocean Park Beach, more than two miles of sandy shoreline that is equivalent to Brazil’s famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, where the local beautiful people scene, cohabits with the local families and tourists, with space enough for everybody, There is a kitesurfing scene and you can even take lessons. In barbosa Park, across the street to the east, you can blend in for a walk or jog or even get into some playground basketball. On Sunday afternoons neighbors old timer musicians get together for drumming and chanting the rumba beats or Puerto Rico and Cuba.
This neighborhood is not collection of tourist traps. Here you’ll be able to enjoy a taste of the best of an authentic San Juan travel experience instead of a fake tourist-only environment.
A couple of blocks to the south is Loiza Street, one of the liveliest communities in the area, full of shops and restaurants that offer local as well as Greek, Mexican, Italian, Cuban, Argentinian, Chinese and Vegetarian among other international cuisine. In the Loiza Street-Ocean Park community you will see this busy but at the same time laid back coastal town ambiance where a lot of people go about in bicycles and even skateboards and roller skates. Many people will be able to talk to you in English and if not they will make an effort to communicate or understand you. Puertoricans have a natural inclination of being friendly to travelers and tourists. We like you to know and enjoy our place and this spirit is very much alive in this community. Police also tend to be very helpful.
And if you ask me, this is simply the best place to be.

Hi I am a free-lance journalist and lawyer who loves music, travel and sharing with friends. I love my country, my city and my neighborhood and I just want my guests to have a wonderful time and learn to love it as I do.

During your stay

My goal is that you feel good and enjoy your stay. Depending on your time of arrival and my work schedule there will be two possible check in methods. Either I meet you personally in the condo and hand you the keys or I will leave the keys in a safety lockbox and text you the instructions you need to check in by yourself. If you are not going to rent a car in the airport the way to get to the condo is in a taxi ($22-$25). If you take a taxi it’s a 10 minute drive in light traffic from the airport to the apartment. I will inform you and give you tips, according to your interests, as to the best places for dining and wining, best beaches, transportation to places of interest like museums, Old San Juan, Casinos, clubs and even tours outside the city. If because of your travel schedule you need to check in earlier or check out later than the designated hours we may be able to arrange that but you need to ask me about that possibility at least two before arrival date so I can make the arrangement if possible. Feel free to text me or call me for advice, orientation, directions or anything else you may need and I'll be glad to help you out.
