House rules
The host doesn’t allow pets, parties, or smoking.
We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our Airbnb guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in. In one of the best and safest residential neighborhoods, the 17th floor apt has amazing views, is close to the city center and main tourist attractions. Within a three block radius you will find some of the best restaurants, cafes and night spots, all for an incredibly low price!

The space
The apartment on offer has one thousand square feet, two bedrooms that accommodate up to four persons, one bedroom with a double bed the other with two single beds, with one and a half bathrooms, dining and living room, kitchen and laundry room.

For every week that you stay an extra set of sheets and towels will be supplied. For every 14 day period that you stay you can have the apartment cleaned and bed(s) made if you wish.

Free wireless internet and cable TV for two television sets is provided. The apartment has two heaters; La Paz can get chilly in winter, especially at night, even in summer when it rains a lot.

The apartment has a water heater. That means that you'll get hot water 24 hours a day when you use the sink in the bathroom and of course in the shower. It also means you'll get good water pressure in the shower as opposed to showers that don't have water heaters.

Starter supplies of hand soap and toilet paper are supplied as well as shampoo.

The apartment has washing and drying machines, as well as an iron and ironing board. There is also a professional laundry service about a block away which charges about two dollars to wash a kilogram of regular clothing. Suits and jackets cost three to three and a half dollars to dry clean.

The land line phone can be used for unlimited local calls to other landlines only.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the standard appliances. Also provided are kitchen and dining implements such as cooking utensils, pots, pans, china, glasses, silverware and the like.

A starter kitchen package is provided with sugar, salt, coffee, tea, coca tea (good for altitude sickness), sponge, dish soap, detergent, rubber gloves and trash bags.

Thanks to the suggestions of our wonderful guests we have improved the accommodations with things like a new mattress for the double bed, a better shower head so that you will have even more water pressure, and a new tap for the kitchen sink; there is always room for improvement! Also, a brand new water heater has been installed so that you will get even better water pressure when you take a shower!

The apartment is on a 17th floor which gives it a spectacular view. Also, you need not walk up steep streets (La Paz makes San Francisco look as flat as your dining room table) and be left out of breath to get to it because the streets immediately around the apartment building are relatively flat.

What you get that is not included in the standard amenities:

-Bi-weekly house cleaning (if requested)
-Clean sheets and towels every week (if staying more than a week)
-Landline phone with unlimited local phone calls
-Optional professional laundry service for a fee
-Safekeeping of baggage after check-out for a fee

Guest access
All of the apartment is accessible exclusively to guests. The apartment can be reserved by only one party at a time, whether the party is made up of one person or four.

Location

La Paz, La Paz Department, Bolivia

The building is located in Sopocachi-San Jorge, one of the prime residential areas of La Paz, but still is only a few minutes away from the center of town and most of the main tourist attractions. In San Jorge you can find the U.S., British and Brazilian embassies, as well as the Bolivian equivalent of the White House, all only a few blocks away, and is therefore very safe.

There are two cable car (teleférico) stations nearby, the one for the blue and white lines is three blocks away and the one for the yellow line is six blocks away. All the cable car lines are interconnected but if you go to the blue line station you will be able to go to the center of town directly. The yellow line, which is about six blocks away, is better if you want to go to El Alto. The yellow and green lines afford some of the most spectacular views of the city, high up above the hustle and bustle. The cable car system enables you to visit different parts of town safely and cheaply.

Within a five block radius of the apartment you will find some of the best restaurants in La Paz, plus eateries of all kinds, pubs, cafes, shops and entertainment. Right next door is Casa Argentina, the best steak house in La Paz, and the Circolo Italiano, an Italian restaurant.

The newest and best mall in the city, Las Torres Mall, opened just a block away on the corner of Avenida Arce and Plaza Isabel la Catòlica. You can do all manner of shopping there, it also has a supermarket, a gym and a food court.

There is a multiplex two blocks away, also with a food court and a gym, where you can catch up on the latest feature films. About a block and a half away there is an Alexander Coffee cafe that belongs to the best cafe chain in Bolivia. Along that block, as well as the next block, you can find all manner of restaurants and eateries.

There is a drugstore right in front of the building and two more less than a block away and a supermarket about a block away. You will also find a number of banks and ATM’s within walking distance. Two blocks away there is a telecoms company that can help you with smart phone issues.

There are three gyms open to the public that have daily rates within one to three blocks from the apartment.

When I was at George Washington University in Washington D.C. years ago I stumbled upon Airbnb. It seemed like a great idea so I decided to give it a try. I wanted to visit some friends up in New York and take in the U.S. Open as well so I booked a stay in a place in Queens (where I used to live when I was in grade school) and it worked out fine. When I returned home I decided to try the opposite side of the coin and be a host, I must admit, not without a little bit of trepidation. I mean, I had roommates in college with whom I even shared the same room, but that was a long time ago. So, since I had a spare bedroom in the place where I was living I went ahead and rented it out through Airbnb. Anyway, I’m happy to say that I’ve enjoyed hosting interesting and fine guests and I’m glad that I decided to become a host. Now that I have the chance to be a host for an entire apartment I’m looking forward to meeting other interesting and fine people. My hope is that I might make a difference in their, actually your, enjoyment and appreciation of La Paz if you come here, helping you to have the best experience possible. See you soon!
