Our little cottage is secluded and amazingly quiet. Overlooking our pond and surrounded by woods, it is beautiful year round. Soak and rejuvenate in our Hot Tub, Kayak and swim in the pond, or light up the fire pit. A separate bedroom and a kitchen/common room fully equipped. Solar powered. Huge deck, miles of trails, tree house, and many unique features!

The space
You get our 450 sq ft. cottage, and huge 10' deck, all to your self. There is a separate bedroom, and bathroom, along with the main room. With a full kitchen (stove, oven, grill, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher) it is easy to bring your own food and prepare it here. We have a full compliment of dishes, silverware, and utensils, along with lots of condiments. What ever you would find in your own kitchen.
The bedroom has a queen sized bed, the loft has two singles, and the bench in the main room becomes a bed when the bolster is removed. In addition we have a blow up queen, and two blow up singles. We can actually sleep 9 but that would be very crowded. 4 is comfortable, 6 is tight.
Please be aware that this is a cabin in the woods. If you love nature, this is your place.

Guest access
When you stay, you get the cottage to yourself, you also have the use of the hot tub, pond and kayaks. We have 10 miles of trails through our woods and you are welcome to hike through them. On our ridge in the woods we have erected a wonderful tree house. You are welcome to visit and spend time "Forest Bathing". It is a wonderful place to relax and get close to nature.

Our neighborhood is unique in that it doesn't exist. It is just you, the pond and the woods. We have neighbors, but you can't see or hear them. This is a get away place.

Jane and Murray bought Grouseland in 1995 and established Grouseland in 1998. When Jane and Murray first got the property, they were constantly given heart attacks by Grouse exploding at their feet. It was obvious that there were a lot of Ruffed Grouse on the land. They also knew that the Ruffed Grouse is the Pennsylvania State Bird. And even though President William Henry Harrison's home estate is called Grouseland, he just did not serve long enough to warrant them not using the name. And as one would expect the Grouse also became our mascot named Elvis A. Grouse (After a long running inside joke between Jane and Murray). When they first saw the property, it had an abandoned cabin shell and an impossible driveway. But it held tremendous promise. Since then they turned the ransacked cabin into a comfortable place to live, built Grouseland’s Vacation Cottage, and planted 150+ fruit trees and bushes (apple, pear, cherry, peach, plumb, nectarine, apricot, gooseberry, and blueberry) so that when our guests come, we will have fresh fruit for them. Next to the Cottage the pond was given a shaded dock with hammock and kayaks for guests to use and enjoy while taking in the quiet serenity and nature of Grouseland. In 2015 Murray and Jane’s nephew Mason was brought in to help run the business while attending college locally at Allegany College of Maryland and Frostburg State University. Business at the B&B began booming and has continued to grow. Since then we have become friends with hundreds of wonderful people that have stayed at Grouseland. On that end alone it has been well worth our while. In the summer of 2020 Mason graduated from FSU and began working on opening up Grouseland’s Campsites. Grouseland now offers Twisted Oak Campsite which is a private site and Grouseland's Campground which is public camping area. Both areas have a fabulous scenic overlook!
