Great location
90% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
This owner-occupied Victorian duplex is on a quiet, leafy, safe street AND a short 3 blocks from bustling Massachusetts Avenue: a 10 minute walk to Harvard Square and 5 minutes to Porter Square.
Your room has a double real bed. You are on the third floor, peaceful, cozy and quiet, right among the tree tops. At night you have the stars, and by day the room is light and sunny. Airy, modern kitchen, leafy yard, washer/dryer, wifi.

The space
The room is cozy, with wide, old pine board flooring, sky light with a room-darkening shade, closet, dresser, large desk with office supplies, yoga mat, full length mirror, a/c (when necessary) and a fan. This bedroom shares a full bathroom with the other third floor bedroom, Smack Dab 1. (FYI: there are 2 other bathrooms in the house). An iron and ironing board are available. I provide soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, first aid kit and other essentials.
PLEASE NOTE: your room is 29 stairs up 2 uncarpeted staircases which can be slippery in socks. Please consider bringing flip flops or slippers as the stairs can be slippery in socks (bare feet are fine!)

Where you’ll be

Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States

This neighborhood is very special in that it is quiet, you can hear birdsong most times of the day, there are lovely gardens all around. And you will be just 3 blocks from Massachusetts Avenue (Mass Ave), the busiest street in Boston/Cambridge. Or, if you are here in winter, the quiet of the cold air is lovely too, and if we are lucky, you'll see snow!

Along Mass Ave, you can walk to many local run businesses of every sort: gift shops (Joie de Vivre, Nomad, Abodeon, Tokai), coffee shops (Simons, Hi-Rise, Starbucks) and so many restaurants of every ethnicity (Indian, Japanese, Thai, Italian, Mexican, American). You can take a walk from here to the Charles River, through Harvard Square. You can stroll down Mass Ave to Central Square where there is a whole new world waiting for you, but just as Cambridge as any other place! Somerville is just minutes away too (Davis Square, Inman Square, Union Square), and it is an amazingly rich community for music, food and funky shops and cafes. If you want to go into Boston, hop on the red line (subway-see below) and in minutes you will strolling down Newbury Street or Boylston Street or enjoying the exquisite plantings in the Boston Common and Public Garden. There are art and history museums to occupy you for weeks!

Hello! I've lived in Cambridge for 30 years. I am an artist; I paint, draw and sculpt. I am a rather quiet person, with a good sense of humor. I live with two cats, Aiko and Minkah. They are friendly, interested in people and they are very good friends to each other. I love living in Cambridge. It's a rather small town with so much to offer. Boston is also very close by, accessible by the subway, bus or Uber. There's so much to see and do there as well! This is quite an amazing neighborhood and I really love sharing it with people. It is good to remember the ocean is also near-by and it is accessible either in the city, or in its more natural state, by subway, rail or bus. There are countless historical sites, museums, restaurants and shopping experiences in the area. I hope you will consider visiting Cambridge!
