The space
Quinta "Toca do Mocho" is located about 5km from the beach, in a quiet place in the middle of the countryside, from where you can enjoy the charming landscape of the Barreira Islands of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The name of the Quinta is alluded to the presence of Galician owl communities, a friendly bird that lives in this place, which can be observed and heard in the evening and which is greatly admired by the owners.
The property also has a pedestrian track of about 300m that allows you to walk around the Quinta and enjoy almond trees, carob trees, fig trees and other fruit trees typical of this region. You can also enjoy the friendly lake where you can see some passing birds and turtles and fish that live here permanently.

Despite the magnificent peace and quiet, Quinta "Toca do Mocho" is 3km from Olhão and as such is close to all the services and accessibility you may need, such as restaurants, hypermarkets, health center, banks, pharmacies, means of transportation, highway, among others.

Where you’ll be

OLHÃO, Distrito de Faro, Portugal

Olhão
As the largest port in the Algarve and a lively fishing town, Olhão is also home to some of the region's most enchanting landscapes and some of Europe's best beaches. The city itself is a mix of scenarios and sounds that highlight a life centered on the sea. Fishing has always been the main means of subsistence for the population and its importance is felt at all levels, from the port that fills with activity when boats return from duty to the incredible diversity of fish and seafood displayed in the stalls of the market. Olhão fishermen are mythical figures and widely recognized for their expertise – fishing and cooking! The abundance of seafood in the area, coupled with the talent to turn them into absolutely delicious dishes, has earned Olhão the reputation of the Algarve's gastronomic capital. The city's fish restaurants serve delicious local specialities, and in mid-August the Seafood Festival is held, an outdoor party for six days, with lots of food, drink, music, dancing and, of course... lots of seafood. A short boat ride away are the natural treasures of Olhão: the magnificent Ria Formosa Reserve and the long pristine beaches of the islands of Culatra and Armona.
Olhão is located in the heart of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, an intricate network of lagoons, canals, salt flats and sands separated from the Atlantic by a set of islands that extend from Faro to the village of Cacela Velha, near Tavira. Sanctuary of flora and wildlife, the fertile marshes of the estuary are the mating territory of various bird species, fish and crustaceans. Boats departing from Olhão harbor and marina offer tours of the wonderful Ria Formosa where you can see a great biodiversity of birds and magnificent landscapes.
Marim's Centre for Environmental Education also has interpretative paths and bird observatories to explore the region's fauna and flora.
