Oakfold House, is a Lakeland stone Victorian guest house located between Bowness and Windermere. Our property has been refurbished and maintained making the most of the original features, we are family run.

The space
This front facing single room is located on the first floor of Oakfold House. It has a single bed and an en-suite shower, as well as internet access and tea and coffee making facilities and a dressing table/work desk.

Guests will have shared use of a relaxing and quiet lounge (with guest fridge) and our garden to enjoy the fresh air and sun.

Other things to note
Our check in time is between 4pm and 9pm on day of arrival. Please note we do not have the capacity to store bikes and cooking, takeaways and washing are not permitted in our non smoking rooms. We reserve the right to cancel bookings at full cost if guests arrive after check in times, or if too many guests arrive for the capacity of the room.

Bowness is a great location, with our famous Lake - Lake Windermere. There are boats that travel across Lake Windermere to other towns such as Ambleside or to the South - Lakeside where there is a steam train, motor museum and aquarium.

There are plenty of walks to do of varying difficulty. Quieter scenic walks are accessible to start and finish in Bowness, or you can travel further afield to climb Scafell Pike or Helvellyn.

If eating and drinking is what you are looking for, then the pubs and restaurants are superb. There are a lot of shops too, as well as public transport to get other cities and towns.

We are a well travelled family with young children. We are quite laid back and usually go out on adventures, visiting family and friends.

We are entrepreneurial hoteliers and getting away from work is a nice break that we look forward to.

During your stay

We like to meet all of our guests upon arrival, and we live on site. We try to be available when needed, however we are often out enjoying the local area when we can.
