One of Bardo Cabins' two, four-season sister-cabins; Maple Cabin is quietly nestled below a granite outcrop among towering old pines on the beautiful, semi-private, fifteen acre Dube Lake. Hike, bike, snowshoe or ski the private two kilometers of trails, swim and sunbathe from your own floating dock or wade at a nearby sandy shore, chill bug-free on the screened-in porch listening to the sounds of Bardo's surrounding ten acres of mixed old growth forest, or venture beyond to nearby amenities.

The space
*7 night minimum July-September, Friday Check-in/out

If available, both Bardo cabins can be reserved for a concurrent period at a premium. Look for our "Bardo Cabins" listing.

Maple Cabin is a rustic and cozy five hundred square feet, with two bedrooms, a full bathroom with shower stall, and a living room/kitchen common area. The living room has a large sectional, a tv with DVD player, satellite internet with wifi, and a wood stove. The kitchen is well-appointed with an electric stove, reduced-size oven and a four-seat dining table. The attached screened in porch has a bistro table and chairs, and a four burner gas grill.

There is a flight of stairs down from the parking area, and more stairs back up to the cabin. A hundred foot trail links the two cabins, but in summer there is some privacy provided between them by the forest foliage. The cabin has its own dock with excellent weed-free, deep water swimming. The water in the lake is tea-stained but otherwise awesome. There is only four dwellings on Lake Dube; two of them make up Bardo Cabins, the others are rarely occupied. There is no motors on the lake. It's a very, very, peaceful spot. Right across the street there is a public swimming area with a shallow, sandy shoreline perfect for youngsters. Turn left out of the driveway and it's a three-minute walk down the hill, on your right.

There are more than two kilometers of well-marked trails throughout the property, ideal for hiking and mountain biking spring to fall, and nordic skiing and snowshoeing in the winter (snowshoes provided). We don't permit motorized vehicles on the property beyond the parking area, but there’s a long network of top shelf atv/snowmobile/biking trails very close by (Seguin Recreation Trail). For the paddlers we have three canoes, a tandem kayak, two youth kayaks, and two inflatable SUPs to share between the cabins. Access to a vast network of paddling and portaging is right across the street on Lake Manitouwaba.

All roads to Bardo Cabins are paved and plowed in the winter. Our parking area and the steps to the cabins are also regularly cleared of snow and salted.

The cabin’s water is from the lake and is naturally tea-stained. It’s great for washing, etc. but a reverse-osmosis-filtered drinking water tap can be found on the kitchen sink. We drink the water when we're there, and test it regularly, but we can't guarantee it for you. If you'd prefer, bring along your own drinking water.

Each cabin has a firepit, and a fireplace. We provide the firewood, which we process ourselves for your use, at our pleasure. However, please be mindful of your firewood consumption. It's laborious to provide and you'll want to leave some for future guests. Before you burn, take note of the township's current fire rating ( Also: the wood piled by the lake is for outdoor fires. The wood piled on decks or in wood sheds is for indoor fires. Never the twain shall meet.
