Located in the heart of Chilmark, walking and biking trails abound. A short trip down dirt roads takes you to the North and/or South shores-more trails and beautiful beaches.
Bring bikes and we'll get you through one of the most beautiful gated beaches on the island.

Chilmark holds a country grace in the settings of beautiful old working farms and homes, set on rolling land, rambling stone walls, grazing sheep, and one of the most beautiful of all Vineyard drives, Middle Road. The ancient stone fences, undulating landscape, and soaring ocean views suggest Ireland.

The town provides some of the best mountain and road biking, hiking and photography on the island. We also have a handful of outstanding dedicated farmers with farmstands nearby selling their produce, meat, cheeses, bread, eggs, milk and much more. Beetlebung Farm, North Tabor Farm, Native Earth Teaching Farm, Tea Lane Farm flowers and Mermaid Farm are all you need to make the best classic Vineyard fare.
Chilmark’s small, rural community is located toward the western end of Martha’s Vineyard. The town center, near Beetlebung Corner, offers a modern library, a general store, post office, bank, community center for yoga classes and other events, and the Chilmark Tavern. Drive or pedal right up the road from there to Menemsha, the Vineyards’ fabled salty town with old fishing boats, fish markets, restaurants, lobster rolls, local oysters and clams, chowder and sun sets.
