Our guests sleep in and comment on the beautiful quiet. Walk to the Cove for a dinner out or a night at the pub, or stroll up to Crippen Park to bird watch or run the forest trails. Pack a picnic and head out to explore the Bowen's pebbly beaches or Crippen Park. Or, relax on the garden patio. Or, even curl up and watch some Netflix when the weather is "fowl".

The space
Our large self-contained 2 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds has in-floor radiant heating controlled in the unit which makes for a toasty winter retreat. In summer the ground level suite maintains a cool and refreshing temperature for sleeping and has quick to heat electric heaters. There is a media den with a 40" flat screen television with stereo sound system and Apple TV, a games table (and many games), an electric keyboard, and a comfortable futon couch. If yoga is your thing push aside the furniture and you have a large space for poses. The eating area has a pull out couch with a bed suitable for children or small adults. A camp style cot can be set up in either bedroom for small children. Sorry, we do not have a crib.
As of May 2016 we have installed a state of the art water filtration system for the house that provides filtered chlorine free UV treated soft rain-like water. We are very happy to provide this upgrade to our suite.

Where you’ll be

Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada

Our Deep Bay neighbourhood is central to the best of Bowen Island. Our place is situated half a kilometre by foot path from the main business area. Just stroll across the road, turn left and go down the trail and across the causeway to access "The Cove" and all its restaurants, coffee shops, grocery and wine stores, and gift and clothing shops and, of course, the pubs and marinas. In summer the Tourist Information cottage is on Cardena Road as you leave the ferry terminal area on your walk to the causeway.
The lagoon is a constant hub of nature. At night you may hear a beaver chewing on a stick, or see bats fly close by you. In the day ducks hang out and wait for treats from people. Please don't feed them bread - we have scratch that we can give you if you want to take some to them. Spring time and the arrival of all the baby birds is especially exciting. In the fall returning salmon cause quite an event bringing Islanders to the causeway to watch and chat.

Retired from teaching I opened our garden suite B&B to meet people and share the amazingly beautiful place we live. I love art, photography, gardening, nature, travelling, skiing and cats, after my family of course. My life is gluten free as a diagnosed celiac and I volunteer at events for the Vancouver Chapter of the CCA. Also, I volunteer at our local arts council gallery through the winter. When I travel I love to mingle with the locals to get a sense of the flavour of the place I am visiting. I always check out the outdoor activities and the art galleries.

Please let us know when you will be arriving as soon as you can so we can plan our busy lives around your arrival. We like to welcome our guests, show you the space and answer any questions you may have upon your arrival. Also, if you arrive after dark, and are walking, we can meet you at the ferry or if you driving we can place a light a the bottom of our driveway. Bowen is very dark at night as there are no street lights and Islanders prefer no to low lighting so we can enjoy the starry night sky. Bringing a head lamp or flashlight is helpful for walks to the Cove.
Also, letting us know about your departure plans when you arrive helps us to plan our day. Check out is generally open except when we have guests arriving later in the day and we need to get the suite ready for their arrival. Please let us know if you would like to stay later in the day as this can often be accommodated.
