Make yourself at home in my beautiful first-floor flat near the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne.

There's a small, cosy guest bedroom, and you're welcome to use the kitchen and relax in the sitting room. Fast wifi connection and lots of desk space if you're here to work, and everything you need to relax if you're on holiday.

An ideal location with friendly cafes just around the corner, and a short walk to the city centre, the Ouseburn, and the river.

The space
The guest bedroom has a comfortable new double bed and a small desk where you can work if you need to. It's a quiet street outside, so you should get a good night's sleep.

The double doors opening between the sitting room and main bedroom makes it feels like one big open living space during the day, with plenty of daylight from the bay windows. There's a desk/table in the sitting room if you need a bit more work space, and a comfy sofa for relaxing in the evening; no television but lots of books you can borrow.

You're welcome to use the kitchen, which is fully equipped with everything you need (especially tea) and the back door leads to a staircase down to the yard, with space to sit outside when it's warm enough.

Best of all, a brand new bathroom with luxurious bath and shower!

Where you’ll be

Tyne and Wear, England, United Kingdom

A 10-minute walk from the Jesmond Metro station, Sandyford is the perfect place to be based on a trip to Newcastle. There are some lovely cafes and restaurants just round the corner, as well as the wonderful Star and Shadow cinema.

The best parts of Newcastle are within easy walking distance. There's the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene when you're looking for some tranquility, or head towards the city centre for the shops, cinemas, and Newcastle's famous nightlife. The Quayside, with the iconic bridges over the Tyne, is just a 15-minute walk away, through the Ouseburn - a hub of creativity, with a great music scene and plenty of good bars and cafes.

After living on a canal boat, in an ancient Yemeni tower house, by the beach in Zanzibar, and in the Dutch university town of Leiden - with a variety of different cats - these days I'm settled in Newcastle, in the north east of England.

I love listening to other people's stories, learning about different cultures, exploring new cities, walking in the mountains, meditation, and finding enchantment in the everyday.
