I was born in Norsborg, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden. I moved to the U.S. with two suitcases and two tennis racquets in 1992. After five years of college tennis, I kept learning and I am still in academia today. I taught communication courses for 16 years and am now teaching business courses. I love supporting members of my community in their elevating their knowledge and skills for their academic and professional careers. I also enjoy teaching people about things around us and aspire to supplement my job as a professor with gigs as a tour guide around the country.

When I’m not working, I focus my time on things that involve my daughter, home, health, and travel. My daughter aspires to become an interpretive tour guide and is heading to college in Ohio for a degree in Parks and Museum Education. When she is in town, we enjoy thrift shopping and working on her travel trailer. We also bonded over my home, Treasure Hill, in Perdido, Florida.

I bought the Treasure Hill property as an escape where I could park my 1972 Airstream travel trailer when not on the road. As an immigrant, finding THE place to set down forever roots away from family feels extra important. Treasure Hill is the place I chose to live at. I love the coastal air and the wild Florida flora and fauna in this area. Making creative landscaping and interior design plans and executing those plans at Treasure Hill is a great therapy for me. I am so excited to be able to hold large garden parties and host overnight guests now!

When it comes to health, I am fortunate to be able to walk and jog on Johnson Beach which is only 2.5 minutes from Treasure Hill. Recently, I also started to convert my background in tennis to enjoy Pickleball. I am obsessed! Trying to eat healthy is also a big deal to me and I am a big fan of farmer’s markets and juicing. I am a collector of cookbooks. My favorite part of the collection is books on cooking over fire. I’m looking forward to using these recipes in the wild during future road trips.

Wanderlust runs in my family. In 2017, I renovated my Airstream “from the grass up” after the bathroom fell out the back of it. When the renovation was completed, I drove her from Pensacola to take my mother and my best childhood friend to Grand Canyon. The Southwest U.S. is spectacular, but we all agreed that Antelope Canyon was the best stop on our road trip. On the way back to Pensacola, I was able to take my daughter and then-boyfriend to Monument Valley. This is where my daughter began to dream about becoming a park ranger.

Still, from meeting so many people from all kinds of walks of life at work, I embrace the idea that I don’t have to go far to gain a great life experience. I love meeting people, whether I encounter them overseas at their homes or on the couch in my own living room.

During your stay

When I am in town, I live in the home. During weekdays, I work only 45 minutes away and can act quickly on any issues unless I am in a class or a meeting. When I am out of town, I will have a friend check on the cat, cat food supply, and yard every few days. There will be a forewarning about this person coming prior to their arrival.
