Boathouse of Umiam is one of the most sought after destinations of the north east. Uniquely situated at the Lumpongdeng island of the lake Umiam, this is certainly the mandatory "last stop" for solo travelers, couples, families and friends on a leisure trip to Meghalaya. Operational for more than a decade now, the boathouse promises a peaceful stay amidst nature and a lifetime experience of island living.

The space
The boathouse comprises of a fairly large wooden cabin with a king size bed that is adequate for a couple and a child. There are cupboards, mirrors in the cabin. The private bathroom with all basic amenities. Finally, a wooden deck that offers a magnificent view of the lake.

You have to reach at the Umiam Watersports Complex, next to the Orchid Lake Resort. There is a gated parking area, where you can park your vehicle overnight, by paying a nominal charge.
The motorboats at the jetty operate till 5 pm. You have to hire a boat to reach the island. They have a fixed price displayed at the notice board. Operation timings may change based on the weather conditions. Thus it's a good idea to reach earlier and spend the afternoon in the island.
If you wish to experience a country boat ride, we can arrange the same. The tariffs are usually the same as motorboats.
However, the country boats operate only in normal weather conditions.
