Find peace, quiet, solitude - and high speed internet - at this cabin nestled in Vermont's central hills. The cozy, wood cabin overlooks a small stream and beautiful, rolling meadows.

Explore the 26-acres on rustic logging paths and surrounding dirt roads. We are close to Montpelier, Northfield, Norwich University, the Mad River Valley and Randolph. Come for foliage, skiing, mountain biking, or relaxing. (45 minutes to Sugarbush base lodge, 1 hour to Stowe and Killington.)

The space
It was originally built as a thoughtful, well-insulated, full-time home and serves as a comfortable, peaceful refuge for 1-2 people. With large south-facing windows, it is cozy and bright and overlooks a stream and rolling meadows. You'll wake up to the sounds of the stream and bird songs. On a clear night, our skies are filled with stars, as this area has one of the darkest skies in the northeast.

The cottage has a full kitchen, with a range and full-size refrigerator (no dishwasher). High speed fiber internet provides all the bandwidth you need for Zoom meetings, streaming movies, or WiFi calling.

Fairly remote rural setting in a picturesque farming valley. Low-key winter activities are great in our little valley. There are cross country ski opportunities, plenty of snowshoeing, sledding, and lovely winter walks. We're minutes from great mountain biking on the Randolph Trails. Downhill resort skiing is all around us- Sugarbush, Stowe, and Killington are all 45 minutes to a 1 hour drive.

Good selection of excellent restaurants just south in the quaint town of Randolph. For other popular spots, It is 25 minutes to Montpelier (bustling, walkable capital city of Vermont with lots to do), 35 minutes to Waterbury, 20 minutes to Randolph, 20 minutes to Brookfield, 15 minutes to Exit 5 off Highway 89, and 1 hour to Burlington Airport.

Definitely need a car, as there is no public transportation or Uber/Lyft. 4WD or winter tires strongly recommended during winter months, other times of the year any vehicle/tires are just fine on our dirt road.

Hi!

Born and raised in Vermont, I moved to Portland, Oregon for college and graduate school and wound up staying. Now with two children (ages 6 and 8) our family has come back to Vermont for a few months each year, and has been searching for opportunities to return for years. Buying this farm is the first step toward fulfilling the dream of returning home to Vermont to raise our children and live closer to our family.

With a background in architecture and planning, I work as an urban designer/ planner and also run a landscape design business. I am thrilled to learn from this land, and to root our dreams here. I envision building a series of special spots - firepits, picnic areas, off-grid sleeping cottages, and a sauna. My partner Cyrus works in energy efficiency consulting, and is most excited about the deep swimming pond and developing trails through the woods. Our kids are planning solstice bonfires, annual cider-pressing parties in the south orchard, and learning to sugar (make maple syrup).

Brock - our property manager - is the former owner of the farm. He has been living on the property for over six years, and managing it as an AirBnb for the duration. He's a great resource - for questions related to the rentals, the property, or anything else. We're so grateful for his ongoing stewardship of the farm and for helping us ease this transition. He and his sweet dog and two cats will be living in the Farmhouse until June 2022, when our family will come take the baton.
