Welcome to the good West and Jølster!

This summer cottage is idyllically located on the waterfront at Jølstravatnet, with stunning views over Kjøsnesfjorden Grovabreen. Enjoy lazy or active days in the immediate vicinity of both the sea and mountains. The outdoor area is large, and here you can enjoy long summer days, go out with the rowing boat (included), swim in crystal clear water, try out SUP boards or kayak (also included). The cabin is also 5 minutes away from a grocery store and gas station.

Welcome!

The space
English below.

*Max capacity is 7 people, but this can be a bit tight*

The plot:

In front of the cottage there is a small summer dream; a small lawn that is suitable for, among other things, various activities as well as nice meals along the water; a small pebble beach where you can both go out and take a bath, and which makes it very easy to sit at sea rowboat, as well as get out in the kayak or sup board

The cottage:

The cottage is originally a family cottage that my grandparents got built in traditional Norwegian cottage building style, but is modernized with, among other things, new kitchen, refurbished furniture, and enlarged windows (so the amazing view can be enjoyed also from within), at the same time as the traditional charm is taken care of.

There are two cabins on the plot, but only one will be rented out this summer, so the tenant will have the entire plot to himself.

OPPDATERING:

Fishing and other activities:

Jølstravatnet is known as Europe's best aurefiskevatna. Here it is possible to walk five meters from the cabin door and throw out the drain. If you want to go further out on the water to fish or something else, just push the rowboat out and try your luck where you wish.

Included in the rental is the free use of both a rowboat, a sup board, a kayak and a kayak. This makes the Jølstrava water very accessible 24/7. When firing to fire pan and fireplace is included.

The cabin is additionally located in an area with very many amazing mountain walks just minutes away by car. We have hiked a lot in the mountains here, and can come up with tips for great hikes that suit your level.

Toilet facilities:

There is inlaid water in the cabin through a pump, but not a sewer system. There is therefore a combustion toilet (cinderella), as well as an outdoor toilet on the plot. There is even a shower, but with somewhat limited hot water capacity.

There will be sufficient drinking water in jugs for your stay upon arrival.

Location and location:

The cabin is located right on the E39. This makes it very easy to arrive (with parking space for 4 cars).

In 30 minutes one gets to Fjærland with a bremuseum and a book town. In just over an hour, one gets to the popular vertical waters (which we think are boasted in terms of the storm water;), and via the ferrata and gondola lane in Loen. If you want to go a little further (two and a half hours), you get among other things to the beach paradise Hoddevika (where you can try your hand at wave surfing). We are happy to make ourselves available to help plan as good a Western holiday as possible, with good experience from all the great opportunities and activities in the area.

*Maximum capacity is seven people, but this might be a bit crowded regarding toilet facilities*
The property:

In front of the cabin you'll find what a dream of summer is made of;
a lawn, perfect for daytime activities, preparing freshly caught trout for the barbeque, having meals by the waterfront, a cherry tree - providing the sweets for your desert, and trees with hammocks where you can get some rest from the sun, so can finally read that book you've been too busy to read for so long. A local old inhereted stone table is also a good place to enjoy the luxury of a local apple cider to toast to your holiday;

a small cobblestone beach, providing an easy entry to the lake (for those daring enough to dip into the glacier infuse water), and which also makes entering the lake by boat, kayak, or SUP-board (all of which are included free of charge) a smooth and easy endeavour.

The cabin:

The cabin is originally a family heritage cabin, but it has been modernized with a new kitchen, furnitures and enlarged windows (for you to fully enjoy the stunning view), at the same time the traditional charm and local customs have been protected.
There is a livingroom with a wooden fireplace (wood included), a kitchen, a bathroom, and a dining room. There are two bedrooms, where one has a bunkbed with room for two at the bottom (150 cm), and a another bedroom with a 120 cm bed. It is thus suitable for a family of 5, or a group of friends of the similar size. (If you are a couple interested in renting the property, we might be willing to agree to a discounted price of if we don't have other inquiries at the dates requested).

There are two cabins on the property, but on the one we're not renting out we are doing some interior renovation, so you will have the entire property to yourselves:)

UPDATE:
We have now prepared the other cabin on the property, and this will be included in your rental. It has one bedroom (not separeted with a door from the living room), one small kitchen (not very well equipped) , a small living room, a piano, and a sofa. From here you can wake up and step straight into Jølstravatnet:)

NOTE:
There is not a bathroom in this cabin, and seven people on the combustion toilet in the other cabin might be excessive. For this, there is a portable toilet.
Seven people will be a bit crowded. But there is also a portable toilet on the property.

Activities:

Included in the rental is one kayak, one stand up paddle board, and one rowing boat. For me personally, being able to go from the patio and into the lake in a matter of seconds is the biggest luxury of the property.

Jølstravatnet is also by some called the best trout fishing lake in Europe. Although stepping ten meters away from the doorstep and trying your luck is a luxury, we have some local tips that can guarantee you a fresh batch of trout for the wood fired barbecue or oven in the evening.

The cabin is also situated in area with endless hikes close by. More than enough are available with no driving straight from the cabin, for at least a weeks worth of hiking. And if you are willing to drive your car for 20 minutes you'll be able to reach the most stunning of mountains, includes Jostedalsbreen (the largest mainland glacier of Europe). Our family has been keen mountain hikers in the area for generations, and we would love to share with you our favourites, and give advice on which mountains we believe would be the best for you.

Toilet facilities:

The running water in the cabin is due to a water pump that we have put in the lake. This means that the water is not regulated as drinking water, but we will provide sufficent drinking water for you prior to your arrival. The toilet is is a combustion toilet. But we also have running warm water for a shower and the sink (although the capacity is somewhat limited).

The area:

The house is right next (underneath) to a road (E39). This makes for an easy entrance, and has parking for four cars. There has been built a solid noise reduction to the road, but still there is quite some noise from traffic. From the cabin it is a four minute drive to Skei, where you can find a grocery store and other things.

The house is a perfect basis for your holiday in the western part of Norway: You can get to the hike for Europes largest glacier by driving just 30 minutes. The famous Lodalsvatnet in just over an hour: Beautiful Fjærland in only 30 minutes. And the beach paradise Hoddevika in two and a half. Local delicacy stores with the finest produce in 30 minutes. And most importantly, an endless amount of beautiful hikes just outside the doorstep, or by a very short drive. And much much more!

Again, we will be more than happy to help you plan out activities for you, to make sure you get the most out of this area that we love.
