LAKE KARUJÄRV AND THE BEACH

Karujärv is surrounded by a forested landscape with a wavy relief.
The bottom of Lake Karujärv is mainly sandy and there are five islands. According to legend, Lake Karujärv got its name after 7 bears fought here. To make them stop, God made it rain so heavily that the lake was created. The bears went away, each one in their own direction, and that is why the lake has 7 gulfs.
The sandy beach of Lake Karujärv is perfect for enjoying the summer and relaxing on the camping site.

MÄNDJALA BEACH

Mändjala beach is the southernmost beach in Estonia. If the sun becomes too intense or you get thirsty, a beach bar, beach chairs and hammocks hung between pine trees are waiting for you.
The island biggest and most popular sand beach begins from Mändjala. 500 meters of this lovely beach with soft sand and warm sea water is a part of a Mändjala Camping.

PANGA CLIFF

Panga Cliff is a coastal cliff located on the northern shore of Saaremaa, at the end of the Kuressaare - Võhma road, close to Panga village. It is the highest of the Saaremaa and Muhu cliffs, reaching a height of 20 metres. The entire cliff is approximately 2.5 km long.
Panga cliff is the highest bedrock outcrop in western Estonia and its island. Its highest point used to be an ancient ritual site where people were sacrificed to the sea.
Visitors of the nature reserve can admire a breath-taking sunset, have a picnic, observe birds, take beautiful nature photos, and have fun on the village swing. There is also a dolomite sundial.

ANGLA WINDMILL PARK AND THE HERITAGE

For about hundred years Angla Windmill Park can be characterized by four wind-operated grinding mills with turnable tower. One of the four windmill - Vilido windmill was reconstructed and uses the wind power for grinding flour. The miller of the windmill is very kind. If the visitor wishes, he can take the flour ground with him in a small package. In addition to the post mills, there is also a Dutch windmill with turnable tower. In summer an exposition introducing the local history and agriculture will be presented in the mill. Each person visiting the windmill can taste caraway and herb tea, pan bread or meat bread very common to the island.

TAGAMÕISA PENINSULA

If you are looking for a real unique nature experience then you should visit Tagamõisa Peninsula.
Much of the beautiful and rarely visited western coast of the Tagamõisa Peninsula is protected as part of Vilsandi National Park, including the Harilaid Peninsula. At its northwestern tip (accessible only on foot) is the striking Kiipsaare lighthouse, which due to beach erosion now sits about 30 m out to sea. The erosion has caused the lighthouse to develop a visible lean, although it periodically corrects itself as the sands shift.
The Tagamõisa Peninsula (formerly the Tagala Peninsula) is located in the northwestern part of Saaremaa, remaining in the territory of Saaremaa rural municipality. Tagamõisa is the second largest peninsula in Saaremaa.
It is known that before World War II the Sõrve and Tagamõisa peninsula were among the most densely populated habitats in Saaremaa. The soil in this area is rather poor, but the sea is rich again - most of the food and income was provided to the islanders by the sea.
Address: Tagamõisa Peninsula, Kõruse, Saare County

KAALI FIELD OF METEORITE CRATERS

The approximate time of Kaali meteorite fall is seven thousand years ago.
Meteorite fall caused big damages on already inhabited Saaremaa, it could be compared to explosion of atomic bomb. At the height of 5-10 km meteorite fell apart and came down to the ground in pieces the biggest of which created a big crater with diameter of 110 m and depth of 22 m and 8 smaller craters.
Around the beginning of the Common Era, a massive stone wall was built around the Lake Kaali. The many findings of the bones of domestic animals give a reason to believe that it used to be a sacrificial site.
Kaali Visitor Centre is in Kaali meteorite field. Located 18 km from Kuressaare and 62 km from Kuivastu. Roads in the surrounding area are paved.
Address: Kaali Crater, Kaali, Saare County
