Beach Access:
Shoreline Dr. is located on a cliff above the ocean (we are NOT on the ocean side of street, we are across the street). For guests who don't want to take stairs across the street (located at the end of a cultesac) to the quaint neighborhood beach (quiet, popular spot for locals and surfers), sprawling Ledbetter Beach is just a few blocks down the hill. PLEASE NOTE: The neighborhood beach, accessible by the stairs, is known as “1000 Steps” (no, there are not actually 1,000 steps!) and is only accessible during low tide. At high tide the ocean comes directly up to the stairs. That said, it's a beautiful sight at high tide to walk down and watch the ocean come up to meet the steps. The 1000 Step outlook is also a wonderful place to watch the sunset. Every evening you’ll see neighbors walking out to do just that.
By Foot:
Beautiful Shoreline Park is a mere block away. The Marina, with restaurants, kayak and paddle board rentals, and a fresh seafood market, is also within walking distance. All of these spots are located on the same street as the studio.
By Bike:
The popular Funk Zone is a 10 minute bike ride from the Studio Cottage, down the same street, as is the Pier, Santa Barbara's “main” street, State St., and East Beach. Montecito's “main” street, Coast Village Road, is about 2 miles down the same road, which changes names as it goes along, but is one continuous beachfront street, with a bike and walking path from Shoreline Park all the way to Montecito's Butterfly Beach, passing State St., the Marina, the Harbor, the The Funk Zone and The Bird Refuge along the way.
Bike Riding:
From the studio, it is possible to bike ride to almost all of Santa Barbara and Montecito's well-known restaurants, shops and beaches. We do recommend renting electric bikes if you plan to use a bike as your main form of transportation, as Shoreline Dr. is located on a CLIFF above the Ocean, which involves a few blocks of a steep incline from Ledbetter Beach to Shoreline Park. If this is something you would like to do, we can provide you with a list of local electric bike rental shops. There are also city bikes for rent on the streets.
Dogs:
We accept well-behaved dogs under 40 lbs, with some exceptions and rules. Larger dogs will be considered on a case by case basis. Please see "Rules" for more information and contact us with information about your dog/dogs BEFORE booking. No cats, please.
Hiking:
Santa Barbara and Montecito have a plethora or beautiful hiking trails to explore, most within a 10 minute drive from the property. A Santa Barbara County Hiking and Trail Guide can be found on your nightstand.
Outdoor Space:
While you and yours will likely have the enclosed backyard to yourself, please note that all outdoor areas are considered "shared space" with the main house. You may encounter us using the BBQ (masks on, of course), and, on very rare occasions, we may use the hot tub, although the right of way will always go to our guests. The hot tub is meticulously maintained and sanitized after every use. That said, we also have a separate, enclosed front yard, off the main house, which is where we spend most of our outdoor time (and where we will keep our dogs during your stay).
Indoor Space:
This Studio Cottage is 220 sq ft (ie small!), so, although the space is maximized with a custom made queen bed, closet, kitchen and a spacious bathroom, it was intended to function more like a stylish, well-appointed hotel room than a house, and is meant for no more than 2 people. That said, when the floor-to-ceiling French doors are open, the space expands, with outdoor dining on the patio available year round, and plenty of outdoor space to spread out.
Amenities:
Beach gear provided (towels, boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, etc.).
The Studio Cottage is equipped with a Smart TV and high-speed internet.
BBQ is natural gas and well lit at night. BBQ tools are provided and we encourage you to use it! Please see cleaning and care instructions in the cottage manual.
Handmade tile throughout, French Oak Floors, organic mattress, luxury linens.
Slippers and robes provided. Slippers can leave with you, but the robes stay.
Breakfast:
Nespresso coffee and breakfast items provided. Nespresso pods, creamer, organic, pasture-raised eggs and oatmeal provided. The studio has a Nespresso machine, as well as a standard 12-cup coffee maker, a Vitamix, a Wolf Induction stove and a Bertazzoni oven and dishwasher.
Covid and Cleaning: In addition to following Airbnb’s Covid cleaning protocol, all our textiles (rugs, blankets, decorative pillow shams, etc.) are exchanged, washed and sanitized after every guest.
Thank you. We hope you enjoy your stay!
