The space
PLEASE RESPECT THE 2 GUEST LIMIT. It might be tempting to invite people to visit during the day or overnight, however, this listing is for 2 guests only.

***The bedroom, living room, kitchen and front porch all have ceiling fans.

This home has a lot of unique treasures, beautiful wooden furniture, artwork and photos of nature. The infrared sauna, hot tub, electric fireplace in the bedroom and a new propane fireplace in the living room (added on 3/16/22-pictures coming soon) add a nice relaxing spa like charm to this home. This is a great spot for a romantic getaway. A young couple recently got engaged here and the young man described the space as a perfect place to propose.

A bit of history           My Home is over 80 years old, located in Burdett, N Y. Thirteen years ago I was attracted to its charm, quirks and location near Seneca Lake. Much remodeling and restorations were made 5+ years ago by Brian Beaumont, a local craftsman due to some frozen pipes.  He restored mouldings and completely redid the living room and dining area.  The paint color choices were carefully selected to create a warm, cozy and comfortable feeling.

As for the  furniture.... My father and step-mother owned a beautiful store in Bartonsville, PA. (Poconos) back in the 70's-90's and sold antique reproduction furniture and many other items of interest. The furniture line was made in Georgia, USA, signed and dated called Habersham Country furniture. The four poster bed was 1 of 100 due to size and weight. You will recognize other pieces throughout. Dining table, chests and console are part of the collection. The mirrors were created by my mother and came from a Church in Montreal, Canada.

Artwork and Framed Photos.......The paintings you see were painted by my step-mother, Shirley Epstein who has been showing and selling her work in Stroudsburg, Pa. (Poconos) as part of the Art Community for many years. The Photos were taken by my brother, Jack Ion, who resides in picturesque Erie, Pa. Jack takes great pleasure in photographing Erie and on all his travels.

I hope you enjoy the nostalgia and treasures of my Home.

Where you’ll be

Burdett, New York, United States

Burdett is a gem of a farming community and grapes are not the only crops our farmers raise. Our lovely Main Street nestles in among a patchwork of corn, wheat, oat, alfalfa and hay fields. Cows meander placidly along Logan Road and we are all careful near the dairy farm on County Rt 8 as they occasionally get out into the street there. You’ll quite likely see goats and sheep at some point during your visit and chickens are everywhere these days. When horse power really came from horses and wagons dominated the roads, our village supplied urban areas with hay and to this day those gorgeous bales can be seen dotting our neighbors’ fields throughout the summer and fall. All this bucolic charm though does have a price, small by comparison but a few times a year the farmers do need to till manure into their fields. This is an essential part of country living and something you may encounter during your stay just about anywhere in the rural finger lakes. Likewise, my home is situated on the Main Street. It's a sleepy little village but there is traffic.

Nature: This home has a lot of outdoor spaces (decks, patios, lawn, backyard) situated in a natural setting where you may see or come into contact with creatures such as squirrels, spiders, flies, bees, slugs, snails, mice, etc. If you or any of the guests are uncomfortable with natural creatures, this home is not the right choice for you. You will not be reimbursed for issues involving natural creatures, spiderwebs, bird poop, etc.

Happy! Happy! Happy!... that is my innate state and my friends would agree I crackle with energy. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories; it's one of the highlights of travel. I've used Air B&B for years and recently began welcoming guests to my own home - a cozy haven where I relax and recharge and now you can too. I retired early from my first career and am thrilled to be embarking on new adventures. My life coaching business is taking off and the response to my listing here has been deeply gratifying. My world is rich and full of color and I feel so grateful for this beautiful life.
