With commanding views of the Akaroa Harbour, from the town to the heads, our haven is a truly private piece of paradise. Set on 1.6ha with no visible neighbours, you can relax, listen to the birds & soak up the views (or soak in the outdoor bath)!

Built 3 years ago, the stylish Scandinavian look is about simplicity and connecting with nature, with true indoor/outdoor living.

We’re located a short drive from the settlement of Wainui, ideal for swimming, launching your boat, walking or biking.

The space
The house offers true indoor/outdoor living with extensive decks and views of the harbour and surrounding hills.

It's warm and comfortable, ideal for two couples or a family (and furry friends) that want to chill and relax. You’ll note that it’s incredibly quiet and peaceful, we have no neighbours (aside from cows or sheep possibly). Enjoy an outdoor (wood fired) bath, relax at night roasting marshmallows over the brazier. We think you’ll enjoy it if getting away from it all (in comfort) is your goal!

Facilities include a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, bread maker, log burner, 2 bedrooms, table tennis table, dart board and games, gas Weber BBQ, outside fire pit (dependent on fire restrictions), an outdoor shower, and the piece de resistance … an outdoor wood fired bath overlooking the harbour!

Note that the second bedroom is 2 singles that can be joined as a super king. This bedroom currently doesn't have a door (hard to explain, check the photos) but does have some privacy courtesy of a screen. No bedroom is sound or lightproof, that's part of the appeal of the property, but for some people (especially those with young children) this might mean another property might be more appropriate.

The house is ideal then for 2 couples, or a family with older children. If you are looking for a space for more than 4 people, ask a question, we may be able to accommodate you.

INTERNATIONAL GUESTS: Please be aware, that due to our location, linen and cleaning are NOT included in the price (see below). We can provide linen for $25 per person, and cleaning for $100 per stay, charged separately.

Where you’ll be

Wainui, Canterbury, New Zealand

Wainui is a small settlement across the harbour from Akaroa (about 20 minutes’ drive). It's very quiet and peaceful, especially our property as we're well off the main road. It's a perfect place to relax, but if you're a boatie it's also a perfect place to launch an adventure.

The house is located a little way up Jubilee Rd, and as such as have “no neighbours”. Well, no one that can see us! So our neighbours are the birds and you’ll hear bellbirds and see wood pigeon. In the past two years we’ve planted over 1000 native trees in addition to the existing bush, so enjoy the birdsong! We've got 1200 more in our nursery to plant, so it will only get better!
