The Outpost offers a quiet, secluded retreat in a rustic setting while providing a spacious living area loaded with amenities. With a full kitchen, dining area, living area and master suite, you will enjoy vast, open views of the Virginia countryside away from life's daily drama. You can grill up something tasty in the outdoor kitchen (complete with mini fridge and outdoor TV), get cozy inside by the fireplace while watching a movie, or spend your time adventuring and enjoying nature.

The space
While staying at The Outpost, there is plenty of opportunity for outdoor adventure. You're welcome to take a walk down to the Rapidan River or visit our pond with picnic shelter. Upon your arrival, we are happy to give you a tour of the farm to show you our favorite spots - you'll likely see some livestock, including our herd of longhorn cattle. If you're interested, feel free to ask us about guided tubing trips on the river or shuttle services/guided hikes/backpacking trips in Shenandoah National Park. We are located just 35 minutes (18 miles) from the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station at Shenandoah National Park and 40 minutes from Charlottesville. For additional sleeping space (or for fun!) there is space to pitch one tent adjacent to the camper. While there's no wifi, you will have cell service; TVs and bluetooth speakers can be used to stream content via your cell connection if capable.

Originally from the northwest, I now love living in rural Virginia with my husband and our three daughters. We enjoy spending time outdoors backpacking, camping and hiking and consider ourselves very lucky to live in an area with plenty of space to take advantage of all these things.

While you will have plenty of privacy at The Outpost, my husband and I live on the property and will be reachable by phone should you need anything at all. We will get you started with a farm tour and we are able to arrange shuttle services to/from Shenandoah National Park as available for additional fee.
