This is a salt-air cabin-lover's delight, freshly built in 2019 on a forested slope with peek-a-boo views of the water. Note: It is entirely off the grid, with no plumbing. Rain-barrel showers and a cute one-hole privy are part of the fun. Otherwise, it's pretty cush, with luxurious sheets and linens on a high-quality queen bed with down pillows and mattress topper. Galley kitchen is fully equipped. Solar phone chargers.

The space
The galley kitchen is fully equipped, with stove, fridge, and utensils, and there's a grill just outside the door. Limited solar powers the fridge and wi-fi. Easy access to your own private little shoreline. A similar cabin is 120 feet up the shore from you, also listed on Airbnb. It's out of sight but not earshot, so evening quietness is greatly appreciated. Miles of mossy island trails and rocky shoreline to explore. Ideal for kayakers, canoe-ists ... and Cabinists!

Where you’ll be

Friendship, Maine, United States

Friendship Long Island has a long history of settlement but is now a seasonal community of about 30 homes spread out over its 1.5 mile length. The island is crisscrossed by deep forest paths that are easy to get lost on. Sites of interest: long-abandoned granite quarry, ancient cemetery. Great birding. Bald eagles, osprey, heron, and more.
