A propane fireplace has recently been added to The Crooked Cabin. Located in the woods, watch the river flow by. The main room has a sectional sofa with a double mattress. The loft has a queen mattress. BBQ with side burner and all kitchen appliances are there. There is an outhouse. No shower. Wifi available on the property.

The space
There's a couch and chair in the screened in porch that overlooks the river. Large fire pit is located directly across from the cabin. There's cleared space around the cabin but then there are trails branching off for you to walk the property. There are 2 hammocks with bug netting hung side by side where you can take a pillow and read until you fall asleep into an afternoon nap. There is 3,000 feet of the Irondale River and 38 acres with winding trails, two oxbows, a beaver pond, open spaces, hidden beaches, all surrounded by a mature forest.

Guest access
There is 3,000 feet of the Burnt/Irondale River and 38 acres for you to explore on the property. Your cabin is completely private in the woods and on the river. There's lots of room for dogs to run free. You're welcome to come to my outdoor back patio to jump onto the wifi. The Nest, is the second cabin on the property, and where you can launch a kayak or your own boat.

Other things to note
If you're not a Rogers or Fido customer, your cell service will be spotty on the property but you can always hop onto to my wifi closer to the house to send an email. Guests have been able to pick up service at the end of my driveway too. If you need to make contact, we will definitely make that happen.

From November 15/20 to April 10/21, there will not be running water to the cabin but there will be heat and hydro. Paper plates and cutlery and other items will be provided to help out with cutting down on dish washing time. Full water containers for drinking, cooking and washing are also provided. All water provided is drinkable and comes from my well.

There is limited hydro to the cabin so you can only use one appliance (kettle, toaster, microwave) at a time. The BBQ comes with a side burner.

Dogs are welcomed. No cats.

Children are welcomed here but the cabin is on a 15 foot cliff so I caution parents with toddlers that this might not be the most relaxing place for them if they're chasing kids all day. I've had couples here who have had wonderful "babymoons" with their infants and I've taken 7 year olds on tours throughout the property.

My profile picture is from my trip to New Zealand and I am rappelling 300 feet into a cave. One of my favourite trips. I've traveled some part of every continent except Antarctica, but I love Ontario cottage country and have had the good luck to settle in Irondale after living in TO for 30 years while working in the TV/film industry. I believe that being in nature is one of the best ways to heal the soul and recharge the body, which is why I've opened up my property and cabins. I really enjoy meeting new people from around the world and hearing their stories. I learn so much and there's nothing better than seeing the smiles on people's faces when they arrive here and watch the stress leave their body. For me, it's my way of giving back. To share the natural beauty I'm surrounded in.

During your stay
I might see you in the driveway and welcome you then, but I do come down to the cabin after you arrive to make sure that you have everything you need and to answer any questions you might have, give you tips on the area and show where the different trails go. Other than that, you won't see me unless you need me.
