Have you ever dreamed of spending the night in a luxury bamboo hut, whilst enjoying one of the world’s best views? You will be sure to be setting your alarm to watch the incredible sunrises across the valley below, whilst spending your days enjoying the serenity that this bamboo hut has to offer.

LAPUTA is located on a steep ridge, with views to the ocean and Nusa Penida on one side, and miles of rice terraces backed by The Mt. Agung. You can't sleep because you can't stop looking at it!.

“Laputa” means “Castle in the Sky” in Japanese language. Don’t translate it into Spanish, amigo！

ABOUT:
LAPUTA BALI is intended for max 4 people, 72㎡ of living area with two bed rooms plus 22㎡ of open terrace with the splendid 360° ocean and mountain view. Initially, in effort to seek for truly the best view spot in Bali, the owner flew her drone everywhere in Bali for painstaking 8 months, and finally found this, possibly the most scenic spot in Bali, in the nameless mountain in Sidemen where there had been no access road. The access road to the villa was built in tandem with the villa construction. The painstaking search for the best view spot did PAY OFF, and you will see it once you arrive there.

LOCACTION:
We are located in Sidemen, a small quiet village with a magnificent landscape in the southern flank of Mount Agung. Sidemen is not a big touristy area but has steadily gained core repeaters mainly from Europe because of its "REAL BALI TASTE."

it is about a 90-minute drive from Bali Airport and a 60-minute drive from Ubud. Besides the beautiful scenery and the indigenous culture Sidemen also surrounded by a lot of famous tourist destinations. Some of them include; Lempuyang Temple (The Gateway to Heaven), Besakih (The Mother Temple of Balinese Hindu), Tirta Gangga Royal Water Palace, Telaga Waja River for Rafting, Amed Diving Spot, and Bias Putih the Virgin Beach.

AIR CONDITIONER:
LAPUTA BALI is not equipped with air conditioners, but no worries at all. You will never need aircons in this villa situated in the high mountain area where you would rather want sweater or fleece jacket in the night. In case of extraordinary hot day (very rare though), we have fan for you which cools you down more than enough.

THE BAMBOO HOUSE:
The house was designed to emphasize the view, to create an architecture filled with rich in poetic experiences for the users and at once in harmony with the site and the surrounding nature. It is built specifically to the site condition, to fit into the terraced grounds, with sustainable bamboo construction, which is environmentally friendly. This spacious, 92 sqm. (approx. 970 sq. ft.) all bamboo house with single story roof line provides plenty of rooms with plenty of natural air circulation while maintaining intimacy and privacy, with all living spaces, bedrooms and bathroom oriented to the panorama. The design of the house is very open. This is a very safe area and our local host Wira is a resident of the nearby village, and the local farmers in the area are all extremely welcoming to our guests.

WIFI ACCESS:
-We offer pocket WIFI to our guests. Due to our location, the Internet is not the fastest and there may be occasions where it’s not working at all. Please keep this in mind. Bali still needs to improve a lot about internet infrastructure.

PRIVACY:
You have access to the entire house and it's all yours, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy perfect privacy. Cleaners will visit the house between 10am - 12pm, but they will refrain from coming to the house if guests do not want to. Please talk with our caretaker in advance.

SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS AROUND:
We are in a secluded mountain location amidst nature – there are no shops, ATMs or mini-marts in walking distance, but you can hire motorcycle to explore the surroundings. (talk with the caretakers for pricing which is reasonable enough).

INSECTS & BUGS (please read):
The house is designed very openly and thus bugs, insects and frogs are common. Our beds have mosquito nets, but if you get scared of insects or bugs, this is not the right place for you and we recommend to find somewhere else (concrete wall types of hotels) instead. We are after all in the middle of nature and that's what people like about our villa.

MEALS:
Western Breakfast is included in the price up to max 4 pax. We can provide with halal, vegetarian and vegan foods. There are no restaurants in the walking distance, but the owner opened an Italian/Mexican restaurant in 15 min car-drive location. Please be our guest.

RENTAL MOTORCYCLE:
You can hire motorcycle to explore the local surroundings on your own or visit temples or waterfalls in the area at reasonable cost. Pre-booking is needed, so please talk with us upon reservation.

TOWELS & LINEN:
In the rainy season the towels and linen at times get damp and may start to smell. If you need replacements at any time during your stay, simply let the team know and they will supply you with fresh ones.

PROS & CONS (we try to be as honest as we can!)

PROS:
-We promise that you will never be able to forget the view you will witness
-Very quiet and peaceful. Perfect to escape the crowded tourist sights and be surrounded by nature.
-Your host Wira is a local resident of the village and if the timing is right, he loves to bring his guests to local ceremonies in the village. It’s a unique opportunity to experience Bali in a way that most tourists cannot.
- if needed you can hire a car + driver to tour (we will never charge more than market price)

CONS:
-This is a remote location, 60-minute drive from Ubud (no restaurants, shopping, ATMs, minimarts etc. in walking distance).
-The bamboo retreat is located in the middle of nature and you will have visits of "nature's residents" (insects, bugs, frogs). While we keep everything very clean, bugs and insects are normal and part of the experience and cannot be avoided as the house is designed very openly. If you are sensitive to this, this place is not suitable for you. Especially if you leave some of the lights overnight, please don't be surprised to find dead insects on the floor in the morning - it naturally attracts them.

HANGING NET :
Use the outdoor hanging net ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK. The total weight on the net should never exceed 150kg and is limited to 1 person max. Never stand or jump on the net. For safety reasons, we always recommend to use hand and legs together when going over the net. Never sit on the rims of the net, for the risk of falling down. Please note that LAPUTA is not legally liable for injuries or damages sustained when using the nets, therefore please use them at your own risk only.

TRANSPORTATION:
If you need, we can help you find a driver from/to the airport for you. Please understand that a driver does not belong to us, and we cannot take any responsibility for any car accident on the way to/from the airport. Anyway if we were asked to introduce a driver, we will find a reliable, experienced, ENG speaking one for you.

Sidemen Valley is located at Karangasem regency in East Bali. You can find many tourist attractions in this area such as Mount Agung, the highest mountain in Bali, Telaga Waja river where you can go water rafting in East Bali, the charming beach town of Candidasa, the ancient village of Tenganan – one of the most unique villages in Bali, the famous Tirta Gangga Water Palace and many more. Sidemen Valley is one of Bali’s secret spots where you’ll find many hidden gems but not so many tourists. Other than gorgeous rice fields and agricultural crops, you’ll also find here colourful markets, traditional weaving techniques and a sense of community and family that we haven’t found elsewhere.
