Sitting gently beside the waters of Petrie Creek … Starry Nights is nestled in the tranquil forests of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and just over: 10 minutes to Montville and 20 minutes to Mooloolaba Beach. Each of their 75 sqm bespoke tents are set on the hillside with old recycled barn floorboards, hand carved stone basins and a cozy roaring wood fire. Each safari tent also has king sized beds, flushing toilets and a hot steaming bath and shower. There's also a beautiful guest lounge.

The space
No one can really tell you what it is like to step inside one of Starry Nights luxury tents - you must feel it for yourself. Placed amongst native eucalypts and rolling hills, you’ll be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the the forest.
Each safari tent is positioned so that it cannot be seen by guests in another tent. The tents are big (with over 75 sqm of floor space) and have a raw, earthy feeling and have these stunning features:
• old recycled barn floorboards and an elevated deck
• hand carved stone basins,
• a cozy roaring wood fire,
• pillow top king-sized beds with organic linen,
• a well-stocked kitchenette
• flushing toilets
• a hot steaming rain-head shower and a free-standing bath
• plush gowns

What’s it like in winter?
Once the giant window flaps are rolled down you can rest assured that you’ll be toasty. The fireplace can be rotated to face any direction in the tent, whether you want a soak in your steaming hot bath or snuggle in bed. Luxury bedding is provided including organic linen sheets and natural woolen blankets and rugs.

In summer you’ll be glad to know that all our tents are insulated. Being off the ground and with such large windows all around, they capture breezes from the surrounding forest. There are also 4 ceiling fans for any really warm days.

Starry Nights safari tents where designed and made by the owners – Shane and Nicole with the help of some friends, family and Shane’s father. From the cutting of the great steel frame to the crafting of the furniture was all done by Shane.
The hosts and owners have made sure that their tents have been made using natural building materials without harsh chemicals. The joists are kiln dried hardwood (not H3 treated pine). The floor is finished with a natural hard bees’ wax oil (not polyurethane). The kitchenette is made from solid wood (no plastics). The very sheets you sleep in, and donnas and rugs are either organic linen or natural wool fiber. They’ve incorporated all the design elements from a building biologist who has studied the tents and property.

What about food?
Upon arrival, guests receive a welcome cheese platter with Australian organic sparkling wine (for guests that book directly with our website)... can you find us?

Food Philosophy
Starry Nights food philosophy uses locally sourced, organic and high-quality seasonal ingredients. Starry Nights produces much of their own food sourced from all over the property and their own food gardens. The food that is grown directly on Starry Nights property includes:
• Eggs from free range chickens
• Spinach, tomatoes and a herb garden
• Citrus trees including lemonades, lemons, mandarins, grapefruit, limes and lots of orange trees
• Various nut trees including macadamia, chestnuts and bunya nuts
• Peaches, mulberries, jack fruit, custard apples, bananas, paw-paw trees, passionfruit, cumquat, mango trees, avocado trees and lychee trees
• Produce is sourced from all over the property from various nut producing trees and Starry Nights kitchen garden, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland farmers markets and wild harvested bush tucker plants (such as bunya pine nuts, wild chilies, Lomandra grasses and lemon myrtle).

If not from our food gardens they source any other produce and ingredients locally; this local sourcing of food is also in line with their “touch the earth lightly” philosophy…the least miles as possible from paddock to plate. They also source food from:
• Rawganix farm for organic meats and olive oil
• Kawana farmers market
• Kunara Organic Market Place
Starry Night’s personalised approach also means it’s easy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan and those with food allergies that are gluten free or dairy free.

Your tent kitchen and pantry
Each safari tent is equipped with its own kitchenette (with cooking facilities) and pantry of staples and a welcome platter (if you have booked directly with us). See more in

Our guest Lounge

In winter a roaring fire in the guest lounge is the perfect place to relax after dinner watching the changing light of the bush as the sun disappears for the evening with a nightcap, perhaps swap a few travelling tales with other guests, or enjoy a game of cards.
Guests are welcome to help themselves to tea or coffee or have an espresso style coffee.
A robust beverage program features organic wines, beers, fruit juice, kombucha and tea or coffee which are thoughtfully sourced throughout Australia.

The property

How do the massages at Starry Nights work?
We use external massage therapists who we know and love and they will set up their tables on the deck of your tent (side by side if there are two), and you are massaged in nature amongst the trees in the privacy of your own tent, it really is a unique experience and one not to be missed!

What can we do each day?

At Starry Nights you can do as much or as little as you like.
For many of our guests, a stay at Starry Nights Luxury Camp is a well-earned chance to sleep in, on the plush pillow top king sized beds, enjoy a long lazy breakfast on the verandah with the paper, perhaps a couple of hours on the beach with a good book before heading back for an afternoon snooze and then sitting under the stars. Or walk down to Petrie Creek. Take a walk along the track of our own little part of the Hinterland’s rainforest. For those who enjoy company, like-minded guests often gather around the guest lounge fireplace, for a drink, a chat and always lots of laughter.
For others, it is a base from which to get busy exploring the spectacular Sunshine Coast with its pristine beaches or hinterland with the award-winning national parks, and mountain villages like Montville, Mapelton and Maleny, a true playground for the outdoor enthusiast.
A few minutes away there are lots of things to experience, being just over:
• 10 minutes from the mountain village of Montville,
• 11 minutes to Coles/Woolworths
• 12 minutes to Kondalilla Falls and Kondalilla National Park
• 20 minutes to Alex and Mooloolaba beaches,
• 20 minutes to theme park Aussie World
• 25 minutes to Eumundi markets
• 25 Minutes to Underwater World Sea Life
• 27 Minutes to Maleny
• 29 minutes to Australia Zoo

What other facilities does Starry Nights offer?
Starry Night’s guest lounge is our communal guest hub with a small library, pool table, sauna and open fire. There’s a coffee machine in the lounge, as well as a choice of games and beverages.

Montville has a true village charm, fusing wonderful cultural pursuits with spectacular natural wonders. First settled in 1887, it has grown into a thriving shopping village with a wonderful array of quality art galleries, stylish cafes and restaurants, gift shops and beautiful fashion stores, set in the picturesque surroundings of a shady tree-lined street with incredible views all the way down to the coast. Don’t miss the thriving village with its quaint European architecture and unique character. Some might say Montville is the creative soul of the region with a myriad of art galleries, pottery studios, craft cottages, gift and antique shops, specialty shops and more.

Kondalilla falls and famous rock pool
Kondalilla Falls (80m) is one of the most spectacular and accessible falls on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The walk down to the falls is 'family friendly' with some rock stairs and a maintained path. Great views of the rainforest valley from the natural rock pools at the top. You can swim in the rock pools at both the top and bottom of the falls.
Kondalilla National Park
Just behind the Sunshine Coast, in the scenic Blackall Range, Kondalilla National Park is a cool mountain retreat. The park is named after the spectacular Kondalilla Falls, where Skene Creek drops 90m into a rainforest valley. Kondalilla, an Aboriginal word meaning 'rushing waters', describes this park's waterfall during the summer wet season.

This unique rural community is perched high above the Sunshine Coast with amazing views to the Glasshouse Mountains in south-east Queensland. Locals say the rolling green hills, deep pockets of rain forest and spectacular views in all directions is what makes Maleny so special.

Sea life/Underwater World
No trip to the Sunshine Coast is complete without visiting the Sea Life aquarium, which is a multi-award winning, all weather visitor attraction. Take a fascinating journey from the coast to the ocean depths and get up close to over 10,000 creatures including one of Australia's largest collections of jellyfish. Meet our rare weedy sea dragons, our famous resident seals and over 20 species of shark and rays. With lots of different fun aquarium talks and animal feeds, including our family favorite Seal Presentation, there's plenty for everyone to enjoy at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.

Mooloolaba Beach
Have fun, or just relax on the pure white sand of Mooloolaba Beach or cycle up the road to Mooloolaba Spit for calm, sheltered swimming and excellent seafood cafes.

Aussie World
Experience one of Australia's favorite Theme Parks! With over 30 thrilling rides and attractions on offer, Aussie World on the Sunshine Coast is a fun day out for the entire family. If you're looking for thrills and excitement, then you will find it all right here!

Eumundi Markets
Renowned for its locally made artisan treasures, there’s no other market quite like it. Mark it in your diary - open rain, hail or shine every Saturday and Wednesday. Step into an ever-evolving collaboration of talented locals seeking to share their gifts with the world. The Original Eumundi Markets is the biggest and the best art and craft market in Australia. Meet the talented hands behind handcrafted furniture, homewares, artworks, ceramics, cutting-edge fashion and jewelry, and chat to the farmers and bakers selling fresh produce and gourmet delights. When you need a shopping break, rejuvenate with a massage or lose yourself in the stellar line-up of musicians and street performers. It’s an experience like no other.

Massage or facial
A massage or facial in your tent or by the creek - Massages and some beauty treatments are also available by appointment, you must make an appointment before you arrive.
