A 2 bedroom heritage 19th century farmhouse tastefully restored with respect for the environment using reclaimed timber, stone and wood from the farm. The sitting/dining room, kitchen and one bedroom are in the original farmhouse while a new extension contains a bedroom, wet room, sauna and a chill-out leisure room with hydrospa.

The space
Situated in the Mealagh Valley just 8km from Bantry, Haggart House feels like a beautifully remote hideaway but with every modern creature comfort needed for a relaxing and romantic holiday. A great base for hill walking and escaping hectic modern life as both Sheep’s Head Way and St. Finbarr’s Pilgrim Way traverse the valley. The low level of light pollution makes stargazing enjoyable. The Schull Planetarium is just a short 36km drive.

Sitting / Dining Room: This superb open plan space enjoys a tall ceiling adorned with grand apex beams. The furniture includes the original settle, a church pew and comfy chairs. Heating is by a large woodburing stove or electric heaters. The large table, made from one of the farm’s fallen trees, seats 6 guests.

Bedroom 2: in the original farmhouse is furnished as in “olden days”. The metal framed double bed is dressed with high quality linen. Access by internal or external doors. Radiator and electric heater.

Kitchen: The original stable has been replaced by a kitchen fitted with a range of modern appliances and a small breakfast bar. The large window opens onto the patio and has views of the mountain. It is accessible from the sitting/dining room or external door.

Bedroom 1 has a queen bed dressed with high quality linens. The large window gives unparalleled views of sun and moon rising over Mullach Méise. Radiator, electric heater and electric blanket.

Wet room:spacious wheelchair-accessible room with shower, washbasin, toilet, grab rails, seats and heated towel rail. High quality towels and bathrobes are provided. The toiletries, in eco-friendly dispensers, are from the Big Green Smile range.

Leisure suite: This luxury space is a chill-out haven. Enjoy a sauna followed by a leisurely soak in the Jacuzzi multijet hydrospa while watching the ever-changing weather moving across the hill.Should you not wish for a spa enjoy lounging on the daybed or swing seat. The area is heated by an antique Danish wood burning stove - embrace "suaimhnes" - Irish "hygge".

Laundry:A garden shed contains a washing machine, a dryer and a toilet.
The large picnic table seats 6 while you can enjoy an al fresco meal prepared on the gas bbq.
Free - there is a grass garden and parking spaces to the front and a tarmacked area at the back.A level ramp edged by paling leads to the back door and patio.

N.B. Sat-Navs - Do enter address until in Bantry town! (they will lead you a not so merry dance down little used lanes). It is better to follow the map and our instructions.
