The Nook is a cosy self-contained, self-catering Twin or Super-King retreat, tucked away at the rear of Claremont House in it’s own private setting. It as been painstakingly developed from an old stone outbuilding into a beautiful & comfortable place to unwind and recharge after enjoying a day of everything the Lake District has to offer.

The space
It’s interior layout comprises of an open plan bedroom, kitchenette, entrance/hallway and luxury walk-in shower/bathroom, with storage for your belongings.

The Nook's vaulted ceilings offer Velux sky lights to truly appreciate the starry skies, and a landscape window at the front of the property with views across the valley towards Catbells and Scafell.

Enjoy well earned lazy evenings and mountain views from your own privately enclosed outdoor area which comprises of table & chairs, a fire-pit and soft outdoor lighting.

Leave your car in our ample car parking area for the duration of your stay and enjoy a leisurely walk into town.

A welcome gesture of milk, fruit juice and cake/cookies are provided.
Breakfast Cereals, tea, coffee and sugar will be replenished throughout your stay.

The house itself has a luxury wet room shower facility, entrance porch with drying area, small kitchenette with kettle toaster, microwave and fridge and a bedroom with the option of splitting the beds to create a twin.
We provide milk, cereal, a fruit bowl and tea and coffee.

Right at the top of the hill we have the most spectacular views over the valley and over Catbells. Castlerigg stone circle is 1.5 miles away. Keswick is made up of pubs, outdoor shops and cafes.The lake is great to swim, hike and take a boat out. WE love to kayak and paddle board to St Herberts island.

Sarah and John Lucas moved into Claremont House in April 2019., from Leigh in Lancashire. They have 2 children, Betsy and Dougie, both at Keswick high school. Both kids play cricket, Betsy rows and Doug plays football.
Sarah qualified in Hotel Management form Bournemouth Uni in 1992, and worked in many hotels throughout the North of England.
“I stopped hospitality when we decided to have a family and retrained as a PE teacher. I loved teaching but I really missed the buzz of hospitality life. This is the perfect balance of work, activities and rural living for us all”.
John, a time served engineer is currently working in Sellafield on a decommissioning project. He is responsible for all the decks, sheds and the outhouse project and will be generally found in the woods with a tape measure and a thought bubble!!

During your stay

I will waiting for you with a brew for your arrival and am generally around in the garden or in the B&B. However, the keys will be in a safe box for your freedom to be as private as you like.
