Outstanding hospitality
3 recent guests complimented John for outstanding hospitality.
Situated on the outskirts of Miranda, with lovely views of the town and nearby mountains, this first floor accommodation is spacious and self contained. It is close to the urban area but has a charming rural feel. In addition to good local amenities, there is an excellent restaurant and cafe, a short walk away. Your hosts will give you a warm welcome, essential basic groceries and as much help as you require for your stay. Children and friendly pets are welcome. Determined dogs could escape

The space
The area has a wide variety of attractions. The university city of Coimbra is simply magnificent with much to savour. Fifteen minutes away is the Roman settlement of Conimbriga with its wonderful mosaics and clever partial reconstruction. At Tomar, the thousand year old Knights Templar castle and convent dominate a charming, pretty town while the seaside is only fifty minutes away at Figueira do Foz. Fatima is an internationally famous as a pilgrimage centre for Christians a short drive away..

Where you’ll be

Miranda do Corvo, Coimbra District, Portugal

Being on the outskirts of Miranda do Corvo, the house has charming walks through forests, villages as well as to the town. Cycling is very popular in the area and their are world class bike trails in th nearby hills. There is a surprisingly good "Park Biologique" with a wide variety of wildlife in nearby, very good cafes like the "Avenida" in the tree lined town square and the local restaurant "Reteiro de Mendes," which is splendid for a sundowner.

I am a school master and family man. I love travel, languages, theatre, music and people. My wife, Vikki and I lived for over 20 years in Zimbabwe. After working on the Norfolk/Suffolk border for 14 years, we recently retired to Central Portugal. We have recently spent holidays in the Mediterranean area but go to the Edinburgh Festival annually. I particularly enjoy historical biographies and thrillers. I cannot do without sun or company for long.
