The space
Beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bathroom 2nd floor beach facing condo in Boca Chica Dominican Republic with swimming pool, laundry, two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, parking and 24/7 security. Living room and master bedroom with ocean view balconies.

The closest beach town to the city of Santo Domingo and about an 8 minute drive from the airport (SDQ).

The apartment is a 2nd floor walk-up--no elevator. One of the nicest/ calm and crystal clear beaches. Enjoy the beach during the day and head over to Santo Domingo to enjoy the nightlife in the evenings.

30-40 minute drive to the capital Santo Domingo & Zona Colonial and 10-15 minutes drive to beach Juan Dolio (in case you want a beach with waves). See my guidebook for restaurant and shopping recommendations.

The beach in Boca Chica where the condo is located is crystal clear with no waves (feels like a huge swimming pool).

**Air conditioning and ceiling fans available in both bedrooms. Living room gets a nice cross-breeze through balcony + kitchen windows.

**While very quiet and relaxing during the week, many beachgoers from Santo Domingo frequent Boca Chica on the weekends making it busier and therefore a bit noisier.

*The town of Boca Chica sometimes has power outages. Please be aware. There is a backup inversor(generator) present that should turn on to keep lights on during power outages--no strong appliances (iron, hairdryer, laptop) should be plugged in during a power outage as they may damage the inversor (which is solely meant to keep the lights on).

*The placement of the building directly on the beach results in slower Wi-Fi signal. It is usually strong enough to play Netflix, send messages/emails, etc. but on Sundays when numerous people are on the beach the network does slow down. The best location for the router is in the kitchen near the window.

Other things to note

This beach front apartment would typically rent for $100 per night.

It is currently at a discounted rate due to:

*The elevators are not on yet--it is a 2th floor beach view walk-up. The stairs are fairly easy, but if you can't do stairs--this is not for you. Help can be arranged to bring your luggage up.

*The pool is filled approx. 90% of the time but when emptied to clean, it takes 1-2 days to re-fill. The adjacent beach has no waves in Boca Chica and it is like a huge swimming pool.

*The town of Boca Chica has power outages sometimes during storms. Please be aware.

*People often play music on the beach & on weekends you may hear music playing throughout the evening.

I love God, my family, nature, listening to music, singing and dancing. My favorite place to visit is the country side of the Dominican Republic. During your stay

Directly in front of the apartments you have beach access (a key will be provided for the gate that goes to the beach). If you walk onto the beach and make a left, you will pass numerous restaurants within 5-10 min walking. You have to be careful which restaurants you to to, as many try to overcharge tourists.

Here are the honest/trustworthy good+economical/casual restaurants:
"Puerco Rosado"--right on the beach with free beach chairs if you eat/drink there.
"Mamajuana"-- very good typical dominican foods
"La Terrazza"--very good italian food
There are many restaurants on the beach front as well as Duarte Avenue (the main ave). Always ask if the menue items include taxes "impuestos incluidos?".

When walking to restaurants, bars, shops during the day, using the beach is fine. But once dark out, I suggest using the street and entering back through the building's front entrance. The beach is not well lit like the streets at night.

The main avenue "Duarte Avenue" can be accessed from the beach or by street. By street, leave near the front entrance where security is and make a right. Your will pass numerous booths where they fry fresh fish. Within 5 minutes you will see a park, church and the main avenue "Duarte Avenue" with numerous restaurants and shops. This is where you exchange money also. The further down the avenue, the better exchange rate you will find-- a much better rate than the airport.

Further down, they have the fancier restaurants with private beach access. "El Pelicano" Restaurant, "Boca Marina", and Neptunos. You can spend all day there and swim/snorkel in their private beach access. Keep in mind these fancier restaurants charge a 28% tax. Bring your bathing suits under your clothes or in a bag to change into.

There is good nightlife along Duarte Avenue in Boca Chica; but for the best nightlife, your best option is the capital, Santo Domingo. A nightclub called "Zambra"m Cafe SBG", Laurel, Mitre, "la Dolcerle" and others.

For shopping in Santo Domingo: Blue Mall, Agora Mall are the best.

"Tres Ojos is nearby caves which is a popular tourist attraction. Fun for adults and children.

The Zona Colonial is also very nice during the night time for the historical SpanishColonial Zone. Parque Colon has a very nice historical church. Night time is best as it's too hot during the day. "Lulus" or "Pat E Palo" are the two best restaurants there.

Always negotiate everything. Whether it's in a shop or the price for a ride with a moto, they will try and inflate the price being you're a tourist. Negotiate always. When you arrive at the SDQ airport, you must pay for a $10. tourist visa before entering. Don't forge, or you';; have to wait in line again.
