Where you’ll be

Marrakech, Marrakech-Safi, Morocco

In the Maghreb countries, kasbah refers to a citadel where the palace of a sovereign is located, or more precisely the upper parts or fortified parts of a city. In Marrakesh, the Kasbah is home to King Mohamed VI's Royal Palace and makes it the safest area in the city. Gendarmes, military and police are stationed there 24 hours a day. This is also one of the reasons why the Medina Gardens have settled in this area. Our visitors can stroll calmly through the streets of the souks, day or night, without worrying about security.

Discovering the neighborhood, you will encounter the essentials of the historical sites that characterize the city of Marrakesh such as the Saadian tombs, the Palace El Badi or the Bab Agnaou gate. The tombs house the bodies of some 60 Saadians, including Sultan Al Mansour, his successors and his family. The building consists of three rooms. The most prestigious mausoleum is the twelve-column hall. Outside are the graves of soldiers and servants and the necropolis garden.

El Badi Palace is an architectural complex built at the end of the 16th century. Former palace of Sultan Al Mansour, of which there remains today a huge esplanade of old stones, dug out of gardens and surrounded by high walls.

In recent years, the Marrakech of Laughter festival organized by Jamel Debouze has been taking place in the heart of El Badi Palace for the great pleasure of the Marrakchis and the many holidaymakers who meet there every year.

You can end your Kasbah tour with the Bab Agnaou Gate. It's one of the 19 gates to the old town. Bab Agnou is more precisely the entrance of the royal kasbah in the southern part of Marrakesh's medina.
