Need to get away? Come visit the yurt in the peaceful foothills of the Tararuas. We are a 15 minute drive from Levin. The yurt is quiet, private, self contained and self catering. We provide some basics, fresh veges from the garden and goats milk and cheese in season as well as fresh fruit. There is no electricity or wifi in the yurt but they are available in the main house. There is hot running water. The toilet is a composting toilet.

The space
The yurt is located in a private quiet part of the property and has its own al fresco bathroom and kitchen and outdoor bath. Although there is no electricity in the yurt, there is adequate lighting, so please don't bring candles as they can be a fire hazard. We will provide the basics, and will let you know what fresh produce is available when you book, so you will know what else to bring. Meat products won't be provided, so carnivors will need to bring their own :) For those not accustomed to a composting toilet, you may find it a bit odd, but it is perfectly clean and hygenic. There is no parking at the yurt unless you have 4 wheel drive but it is only a short walk to the yurt. We would ask guests to be careful with water usage as the supply is rainwater and it can get quite dry here over the summer. This also means that unfortunately we cannot make the outdoor bath available over the summer months. It will not be available from 1st November until the end March. You will notice a red carpet in the yurt. This is a peice of the original red carpet used in the first Lord of the Rings premiere in Wellington. Tread in the footsteps of the stars!

We are up a pretty, quiet valley wiith no neighbours, surrounded by bush and birdlife. If you need supplies, Levin is only a 10 minute drive away and boasts a very good movie theatre and all the basic shops and supermarkets. There are also a number of market gardens in the area and the beach is about 20 minutes drive away.

After the frantic and stressful rat race of the city, we have moved to paradise - a beautiful valley in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges and 10 minutes from Levin. We love the peace and tranquility, well, that's when the tui aren't squabbling! The 3 dogs love being able to race around whenever they feel like it. They also live in the house along with our latest additions, two gorgeous kittens. We are really enjoying having a big vege garden and have chickens who give us lovely fresh eggs every day for your breakfast and four lovely goats who provide us with fresh milk. And we also have Tessa the horse - such a sweet girl. We love being able to share our little bit of paradise with visitors. See you soon!
