Architecturally designed the two bedroom property was crafted from native timbers taken from the land and milled on site. The two bedroom suites have a super king and queen bed and each has their own private ensuite with bath tubs.

Open plan living with floor to ceiling glass windows enables uninterrupted 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape. Enjoy gazing out over native forest to the Richmond ranges, Pepin Island, Cable Bay and the Abel Tasman across the bay..

Where you’ll be

Nelson, New Zealand

Cable Bay, the adventure playground of Nelson!

We love it for its wild rugged beauty, the Kayak tours around Pepin Island are a must do it’s an absolute highlight and also the adventure park has numerous fun activities to get the Adrenalin pumping and a great little cafe.

Also the Cable Bay Walkway (closes over lambing season in Spring) but a great local hike to do, it is a one way hike but park at the beach and just go as far as you want to then head back the way you came.

Havelock -gateway to the Marlborough sounds is about a 45min drive away and a fantastic day trip. Picton is just over an hour - we recommend getting out on the water take the Cougar lines water taxi into the Queen Charlotte sounds for some day hiking or lunch at a lodge, OR the Pelorous Mail Boat trip is a great day out and leaves from Havelock.

A drive to the Abel Tasman is about 1 hr 45 minutes, there's lots of options to visit this area though including a Heli-Tour from the Retreat - just ask if you need some help or advice on planning your activities.

Carl and I moved to Nelson two and a half years ago when we bought what is now Peak View Retreat. We both work from home, Carl creates beautiful fine wood furniture and looks after the land, and I have just started my pottery business and opened an online shop after studying for three years. I’m also a Travel Broker currently on hiatus until the world opens up. We love spending time in nature, Carl likes hunting and fishing and I love hiking with our two rescue dogs. We both enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, scuba diving and pretty much any adventurous outdoor activities. Carl has been developing an archery and target shooting range down the bottom of the property too, so that’s been our most recent hobby. We also love travelling and experiencing different cultures when we can. Our long term goal is to be fully self sufficient on the land, growing everything we need for food and harnessing the energy from the sun. We’ve made some good progress this year so watch this space.
