The space
Spend the last days of fall bathed in the glow of the fire and the forest. The woodstove promises a cozy afternoon in the company of a good book and a glass of wine — while sunnier days can be spent wandering along your private saltwater lagoon or picnicking beneath the overhanging trees. A fully-stocked kitchen will provide everything you need to prepare an evening feast, while an antique queen bed, a new mattress and several quilts promise a perfect night’s sleep.

Consider our property a home base for both relaxation and sight-seeing. The white sands of Rainbow Haven Beach are a 10-minute drive away and very private in the cooler months; more active guests can hike, cycle, ski or snowshoe the Salt Marsh Trail, a former railway that winds through the woods before opening up to a craggy coastline dotted with seals. Those interested in Nova Scotia's history will find plenty of it in nearby Fisherman’s Cove, a restored 200-year-old fishing village that’s now home to artisans, cafes and local tour operators. And while our cottage feels removed from the bustle of Halifax, the Woodside Ferry terminal is less than a 15-minute drive from your doorstep and will put you in the centre of the city.
