The space
Beautiful waterfront loft space is perfect for a single guest or a cozy couple to enjoy a few days on Lake Norman's main channel. Three miles from Duke Power Marshall Steam Station on a quiet road perfect for walking and biking. Gorgeous long view of the lake with small private deck. Just 7 miles from tons of restaurants and shopping in Mooresville. 8 miles from Lake Norman Airport. 13 miles from the Lowe's Corporate Headquarters. 21 miles from Birkdale Village. 40 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. A small refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave oven are provided in the space. There is NOT a full kitchen and there are NO laundry facilities, so we are not equipped for long-term rentals. We love your pets, but cannot host them on our property for various reasons. There is no cable TV, but we do have a smart TV with Netflix access. Wifi is fairly reliable. Smoking is prohibited inside.

We provide a selection of snacks--crackers, nuts, candies, etc. Coffee supplies are also provided.

Where you’ll be

Lake Norman of Catawba, North Carolina, United States

The neighborhood is beautiful and everyone is extremely friendly. Many of the neighbors are "weekenders" and live on "lake time". It is quiet and private. The lake is calm and peaceful on weekdays, but activity picks up significantly on the weekends and holidays. The road is fairly flat and not heavily traveled; perfect for walking or bicycling. Two bikes are stored in the garage and available for guests to use. Bring your own helmets!

I am a 60-something accountant from a small town. In my spare time, I enjoy reading good fiction and poetry, especially accompanied by a nice bottle (or box) of wine and some Steely Dan on Pandora. I am not religious and consider myself a liberal thinker politically and socially, even though I am unaffiliated with any "party". Favorite authors include John Grisham, Nelson DeMille, Harlan Coben, Sandra Brown and Dean Koontz. Favorite books: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Invisible Bridge, Watchers, Water for Elephants, and too many others to name. Favorite music: Steely Dan, Bonnie Raitt, Amos Lee, Chris Stapleton, Al Green, and the Stones, of course. I can live without TV, but probably not without internet. I can live without a phone, but probably not without texting. Favorite podcasts: This American Life, Ted Radio Hour and Savage Lovecast. As a guest, my needs are fairly simple: soft, clean sheets and towels, a hot shower, wireless wifi connection and privacy are important. Cleanliness is critical, however, as I have been labeled a clean-freak by well-meaning friends. I can hang with a few good friends for an occasional loud evening, but find quiet conversation and laughter much more enjoyable. My best friends are artists, musicians, poets, dancers and actors and I have low tolerance for racists, bigots, and braggarts. Dang! I just realized I'm a nerd. Good for me! I love nerds.
