Where you’ll be

Ólafsvík, Iceland

The house is situated in Ólafsvík, a small town on the northern side of Snæfellsnes Peninsula, which is 191 km.from Reykjavík, about 2 1/2 hours drive.
The house was a small one story house before it was rebuilt in 2017.
So if you search the house on google maps you will still see the old one.
Many activities have been in the house for example a telephone switchboard, workshop, office and a bank. But it is now ready to welcome guests enjoying Ólafsvík and Snæfellsnes.
A small supermarket, café, swimming pool and restaurants are all in a walking distance from the house. Also to the harbour with it´s fishing boats.
Pakkhús Museum, is an old trading store, built in 1844, now a Regional Museum and handicraft shop.
There are many beautiful places to see in Ólafsvík and Snæfellsnes.
Kirkjufell mountain, Svöðufoss and Kerlingafoss (waterfalls), Snæfellsjökull (glacier), Arnarstapi, Djúpalónsandur and Vatnshellir cave, only to mention a few.
In Rif , just a few minute drive from Ólafsvík, there is a theater and culture center worth the visit. It’s called The Freezer and they have live music and shows expired by the Icelandic saga. There you can also buy guided tour tickets.
In Snæfellsnes there are a lot of things to do. Just enjoy the beautiful nature with Snæfellsjökull glacier-capped volcano, looking out for you.
You can also go whale watching, hiking, birdwatching, hourseback riding, visit art galleries, churches and taste local cuisine.
